For those that are unaware, on the Sundays 7/14/21 May the line between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway will be shut, meaning CrossCountry will be diverting via Kemble, Swindon and Bath Spa.

The HSTs for this day should be:

1V48 0810 LDS - PLY 1452
1V50 0900 LDS - PLY 1542
1V56 0900 EDB - PNZ 2039

1S53 1225 PLY - EDB 2216
1S55 1325 PLY - EDB 2311
1E67 1524 PLY - LDS 2204
1E73 1625 PLY - LDS 2301

It appears that the following is happening:

1S53 is formed from 5S53, an ECS from Laira.
1S55 is formed from 5S55, an ECS from Laira.
1E67 is formed from 1V48.
1E73 is formed from 1V50.

By my count, this seems to be five sets out, which for CrossCountry is pretty rare. I also can't find the path for 1V56 to escape PNZ!

That doesn't look right to me, there is usually only 1 set stabled at Laira on a Sunday morning, from 1V64 on Friday. Also the diversion of 1V56 means it will be in the path of 1V58 from Bristol, so runs to Penzance and stables at Long Rock, so won't be HST.

Will they be calling at Swindon, or just turning around? Also will they be stopping at Bath Spa, or just going through?

EDIT: Checked RTT, and it seems like they'll be non-stop Bath Spa, but stopping at Swindon.

They'll have to stop at Swindon in any case to reverse. Have just done a Journey Planner query at random and they are advertised

1V64 FO will be 2x220 from Timetable Change.

Will the other services from Birmingham New Street towards Plymouth be formed of doubled up voyagers to take some of the load with the removal of the Manchester Piccadilly - Bristol services?

Probably not, they need extra sets because it takes an hour longer in both directions to get to Plymouth. The same thing happens when they go via Severn Tunnel Jn. Some trains are doubled up Voyagers normally on Sundays.

Some are calling at Bath actually. The 1100 Edinburgh to Penzance is, don't know of any others.

Edit: actually, they are set down only from the north, and pick up only from the south!

Did a couple of these services today between Swindon and Birmingham New St - what a pleasant change it was to do the journey in about 75 mins with one stop compared to the usual two hours on slow trains with a change en route.
