Starting Signaller Training. Advice on preparation.

As the title says, I'm starting signaller training at Coventry on 8th May which I'm very excited about.
I'm wondering if anyone can give me any advice on what I should do in preparation for it. Is there anything online that is worth reading or studying. I'm completely new to the railways so any advice would be great.
Also, what is the training like. Is it all at the training centre or is some of it on site.
Has anyone trained at the Westwood facilities in Coventry. What are the facilities like?
Any other advice I which would help me would be much appreciated. I'm eventually going in to a grade 2 box at littleport.

I've passed out Signalling School about a month ago, I doubt you'll actually do your course at Coventry you'll more than likely go to either York or Basingstoke for 10-12 weeks depending on which course they put you on.

Don't read anything, you'll be given everything you need on day one of your course.
I assume Littleport is a AB box ? There are simulators at York to teach NX, AB and WestCad.

Acccodadation wise, it'll be an acceptable hotel type place with breakfast and tea included, dinner is provided at School - you'll get a dinner ticket to a certain value.
The food at York was really nice,

Being fresh to the railway is a positive as you'll be starting from 1st base, which is how the course is designed.

Doesn't do any harm reading "Red for Danger" or Adrian Vaughan's "Obstruction Danger".

It is definitely Coventry I'm going to and I've been told it's a 9 well course that I'm going too be doing. Was all of your training at the school?
I've seen some say it'll be a mix of both school and in the box training.

We did nine weeks in York, now we're onto a few weeks of ROC based courses before we start learning our desks.

I've not heard of Coventry being used before, as have been told it's quite smart though.

Still amazed you are going to Westwood. They've always tried to keep us "bobbies" away from there; too scruffy and common according to some "managers"!

This is where I was told I was going. She said it was one of the newest facilities that they had.
