Well, nothing ventured ... Trinity 2nd (1849 - 1935)

General Information

Trinity station lay on the northern end of the Edinburgh, Leith and Newhaven Railway, on the coastal side of where the short section of the Caledonian Railway Granton branch line from Craigleith to that same railway (see journey preamble) connection to the Edinburgh, Leith and Newhaven Railway.

See my last posting above that named the first of the two closed stations on the Caledonian Railway Granton branch line before that connection was made.

I am a bit confused now. I took a good look at the connections in the area and the best way from the Granton branch to the EL&N seemed to be to take the route which passed just east of Granton Gasworks, then curves round to meet the Granton extension of the EL&N at a triangular junction just south of Granton station. Heading east from there takes you to Trinity (the second, through, station). I did look at the route via East Pilton but couldn't see how to get to the EL&N. Paul, I think it's best you use executive power to post the next station!

The second of the two closed stations on the very short section (joint running facilities) of the Caledonian Railway Granton branch line, after East Pilton Halt, was that of Granton Road.

From there a chord took the line to its junction with the Edinburgh, Leith and Newhaven Railway at....
