District Line D Stock final withdrawal

How come it can't run to Edgware Road the R stock farewell tour went there and yet it was banned from running there in regular passenger service for the same reason as the D stock so why can't it's own farewell tour run to Edgware Road?

Services have increased greatly since 1983, then on Sundays it was every 20mins to Putney Bridge, now every 10min to Wimbledon and Inner Rail Circle, so would be difficult to squeeze in the Tour train.

Looks like it won't be a viable day trip from Dorset, engineering works somewhere between Winchester and Basingstoke, though looking at the times not sure it would have been viable as a day trip even if there wasn't any engineering works (assuming the need to be at Wimbledon by 09:00 to get a district line train to High Street Kensington)

it'll sell out quickly though. As well as the extra costs of running the special, helps fund the Museum.

It's also very likely the last actual chance to ride one, nothing is being preserved in a usable and original condition, unless the museum suddenly change their mind.

I was going to ask the same question, as I'm looking to be down there that day. Only for the morning so I won't have time to do a long run sadly.

It is hoped to be on this working or T12.
Unfortunately Fleet haven't been playing ball with the dedicated workings so predicting the actual working will be something of a lottery until the final days.

I am most grateful to you for providing this information

On Friday I decided I was going to Upminster from Harrow on Saturday at about 12.00 and was well pleased to see that this fitted in with my plans leaving 12.18 from Ealing to Upminster

I see from DD that this set failed at Barons Court Today with Door issues
It also stopped for a good few minutes on Saturday at Barons Court ( might have been Hammersmith) before the driver could open the doors
I thought we were going to be taken OOS which would have slightly ruined the trip so was pleased when he carried on.

The plan is for it to run T4, starting at Upminster and stabling at Ealing Common, but it must be stressed that this is subject to change depending on what happens this week. There are back-up plans in the event that no D stock are at Upminster on Thursday night.
