I've heard nothing. Given that the bus access is via a short section of guideway, that makes it likely that either or both of the Busway A (Stagecoach) and C (Whippet) will make a long loop to the new station, which'll annoy anyone coming from town and trying to get to St Ives.

However, I think it's highly likely that Stagecoach will terminate some buses from St Ives at the new station in the morning and evening peaks, since that allows them to avoid buses getting snarled up in Cambridge city centre.

Does anyone know if Cambridge North will have a ticket office, or will it just have TVMs?

Is there any facility for non-guided buses to serve the station? The 2 might be a logical route as well?

Think it's just TVMs with staff to help (a bit like Oxford Parkway)

I currently get the Travel for Cambridgeshire discount, which isn't available from TVMs. It's going to be a bit annoying if I have to go to the main Cambridge station to renew (or buy from Great Northern's website, but they don't do collect from TVM so I have to remember to buy it and leave enough time for them to post it).

non-guided buses can use Cowley Road, with all other motor traffic to and from the station. Already quite a lot of buses (out of service) using Cowley Road, as the Stagecoach depot is down there

The guideway was obviously such a huge success that it was always bound to be extended ;)

http://ojp.nationalrail.co.uk/service/planjourney/search now has the train times to Cambridge North, although there aren't any ticket prices.

For the journey between Ely and Cambridge North, there are some holes for an hour, and then it gives some train times via Cambridge. It looks like the first off peak ticket in the morning will be via Cambridge on the 8.58.

I asked Stagecoach about bus routes on Twitter, and got the response "details will be on our website soon".

It is planned to be fully staffed with ticket office, TVMs, Traincrew facilities & retail.

Two grades of staff were recruited. Safety critical Platform dispatch staff and customer hosts to asssit with S&B machines (including the maintenance and cashing up of such machines) but not ticket duties..

I guess that no Toc now will be building any new ticket offices at all.

Walked under the River Cam railway bridge today. The folks in Orange were busy wiring up the repositioned trailing crossover south of the station.

Good to see the Cambridge terminating Cruiser extended to Ely & calling here. Forerunner of the half-hourly Lynn's.

Initially only half of them though, I think? Annoying for me as, though North is slightly closer, the ease of jumping on the first train from KX outweighs it.

Correct. For most of the day, the existing hourly King's Cross-King's Lynn won't stop.

If you want to use the existing Lynn trains, Down direction will be a 20-minute ish connection into the ex-Liverpool St stopper. Up direction you'd get the Up Liverpool St stopper and have a 20-25 minute connection. So just as well waiting for the hourly direct fast!

Somebody forgot to tell Edinburgh Gateway ;)

I can see it becoming more and more prominent at stations that would traditionally warrant a booking office though - Bicester Village and Oxford Parkway have the same TVM with staff on hand set up.

What I saw in the local media was that a ticket office has been built by NR, but GA don't intend to use it. Of course, if the station becomes very popular (which seems likely), they may change their mind...

That's going to give us 4 minutes less turnaround time in Cambridge. Let's prey that AMT doesn't have a queue :|

Probably cost extra drivers and I think GN drivers now have Sundays outside the working week.

Colchester as I understand is platform share in 5 and 6 and attach / detach any time. 1 to 4 attach and detach only. Correct or wrong am I?

You are correct, albeit we do not 'share' that much, as there is no call to,
and yes 1 to 4 attach / detach only, except in times of strife.

Trains to/from Kings Cross only run Mondays to Saturdays... It seems a strange choice not to have any direct services on Sundays...

because the current Kings Cross-Cambridge only fast (and return) service that's being extended to Ely Monday-Saturday doesn't exist on Sundays- only 3tph GN CBG-KGX(!). Of course, I'd have thought that Sunday passenger loadings would be able to cope with the KLN-KGX putting in a stop at Cambridge North.

What is the overall impact on end to end Norwich - Cambridge journey times as a result of the extra stop? And will all CBG-NRW trains stop?

Thanks!
