Two adults travelling off-peak with Network Railcard from the Paddington area to Exmouth and back, flexible on day and time but not tied to a particular train.

Option 1, £84.80 person, Super Off Peak Return

Option 2, £53 per person:
Tube to Waterloo £2.40+£2.40
Waterloo to Yeovil £14+£14 if bought the day before
Yeovil to Exmouth £20.20 Off Peak Return

It would be nice to go on the faster line for something closer to £53. Is it possible especially as there are so many rover/ranger things on that route?

Thank you

Network Card is not valid beyond Exeter.

Exmouth is outside the Network Railcard area. Splitting at somewhere like Pinhoe can help if using a Network Railcard, although this restricts you to the slower trains via Honiton.

And beware with the Pinhoe split as it is mostly served 2-hourly

Essentially the answer is no without going to advances. And the splitting doesn't help, the Yeovil to exmouth ticket is priced by FGW so is relatively cheaper than the SWT priced tickets.

Thanks for your answers. As far as I can see, using the £14 promo ticket beats the Network card anyway for this kind of distance, although sadly neither lets me travel on FGW..
