 Greater Anglia want to close down ticket offices at Walton on the Naze, Thorpe-le-Soken, Great Bentley, Alresford, Dovercourt, Harwich International and Great Chesterford. All on conductor operated routes except the WA station. Passenger Focus or whatever they are called this week are running a consultation until 20th March.

Great Chesterford (the one DOO station in that tranche) is only manned on weekday mornings, 0615-1100. There's a few more stations on the line with similarly limited hours - eg Shelford which does 0600-1030

The guard on the Harwich line will have to move pretty sharp and hope the card machine has a good signal as the the train doesn't have much time between stops and gets a fair few on

Hopefully they'll actually maintain the ticket machines promptly in future - the Dovercourt one has had a smashed display for a week or so.

There should be staff in attendance at Harwich PQ when the Hook ferries arrive/depart to assist any international travellers who use the remaining boat trains to Liverpool St and Cambridge.
