Any new news about the 2 LM 350s that were involved in the incident in the tunnel? I believe that they've been sent to Siemens for an evaluation as to whether they can be repaired or whether they're beyond (economic or practical) repair

350233 and 350264 are at Brodies at the moment.

3/4 of each unit are at Brodie's; the other quarter of each unit has gone to Krefeld for analysis and heavy repairs. Given the fact that more and more lines are being electrified, and trains need to be longer and longer in the West Midlands and on the WCML, I suspect that LM would be loath to part with them.

Well hopefully it means the 319's will get more regular usage and maybe even a loco hauled set as a bonus:D

Knowing LM, they will avoid using anything else. Much more likely there are long term short forms than a leased set for the repair period.

Thanks,
Ross

Don't forget that if they are going to be OOU long-term, there's the more desireable Class 350/4s coming off-lease.

I highly doubt that we will ever see Class 90+LHCS again, aside from on Greater Anglia and short-term subbing for VTEC. Only possibility I can see for a Class 88 would be the Mk5 rakes.

With the /2s being comparatively expensive (and the seating disliked by many), it's certainly been said here before that son-of-LM may consider going for a fleet of /1, /3 and /4 and Class 319 or Renatus Class 321.

The Class 319s and 350/2s are owned by Porterbrook, I think I know which of those I would like to carry on leasing out first...

Perhaps speculation over options for the next West Midlands franchise will force them to bring their prices down.

Is it feasible/technically possible to make a working set out of the 3/4 of each set that aren't (apparently) damaged (e.g. 2 cars of unit + 2 cars of another) - so there's at least one other unit in service whilst they assess the damaged cars?

I'm guessing it may not be possible as LM haven't done this yet - although might be just that they're not short for stock currently and not worth the 'hassle' of chopping and changing the units around (then back again if the damaged cars can be fixed).

The obvious solution would have been to press Class 319s into service but obviously they are not happy with them.

On the subject of 319's this tweet seems to suggest an additional 319 is on it's way (319 433).

The remaining cars not at Krefeld are still undergoing sideswipe repairs — just not any heavy engineering.

There's no conspiracy about them being sat doing nothing, nor any underlying mystery damage.

If all LM have to apologise for is a few shortformed services then that's a heck of an improvement since 2012/13

OK, so once those repairs are done (and assuming the more damaged cars are still some way off being fixed) they could well create a unit out of the two damaged ones...?

I'm sure there was a thread called "LM to consider loco hauled option"

The key words being to consider. As stated above, London Midland are known to have at least an eighth 319 unit on the way.
