BTW to get Clifton into your book you will probably need to stay overnight in Manchester (or Salford), catching either the 06:19 Manchester Victoria - Blackpool service to Bolton for a +20 to the 0627 Blackburn to Manchester Victoria which calls all stations to Manchester Victoria (then probably a walk to Swinton).

Failing that a +9 is available at Kearsley on the 06:38 Victoria - Wigan.

When I did Clifton, did the last 73 bus I think it is out of Shudehill bus station, quick walk down to the shack and then onto the train to Wigan.

Actually, it was far from enjoyable!

This weekend is London for me, but I'm not doing a hashtag. Limited data left for 18 days (shouldn't have used YouTube so much...) and will probably not be in signal much. Trip report will of course be done and should go live during the weekend

04/03/2017 - Tech Tales, Day 1

Let's begin with an explanation of the trip title, no hashtag this time due to restricted data allowance and signal in general during the trip. One of my recommended videos on YouTube, following playing the Inspector Gadget theme on it for some reason, was the theme for DuckTales. Readers of my generation will probably already know it, but for those it was an amimated Disney series from the late 1980s [so before quite a few forum members were born! Yes this also means I'm bringing back the Ed comments in my trip reports! - Ed] that I absolutely loved in my childhood. I suspect a few of you reading this will be enjoying memories too! I haven't yet ordered the entire collection on DVD, but that will soon change of course!

I wasn't going to use a hashtag this time, but it just seemed appropriate to keep it going. I do anticipate being out of signal a lot on this trip, so there won't be a ton of tweets. So where am I going? Thanks to a lieu day that was outstanding from the 2016 Crazy Season, I had two days off together for a change. With my annual bonus burning a hole in my metaphorical pocket, and after much hassle getting fares and accommodation booked, I booked myself a proper crankfest in London! Unlike the recent Operation Beer Bash, no alcohol was to be consumed this time, it was purely about the trains and a serious red pen session! It didn't come out enough on the last trip, and my 2017 targets will not be met at this rate!

Work was...tolerated [when there was some serious bashing to do, I couldn't wait to leave, regardless of who was in and what was left to do! - Ed] until 1700 when it was time to march to the station. Once one of my colleagues got their pizza that is, and we left at 1713. Just under 18 minutes later [a new record! - Ed] I arrive at the station. GWR had wanted too much money off me to travel with them, so it meant a return to using LM and 170 haulage. Having not used them for all of February it felt a bit odd to do so again! Thankfully it wasn't LM all the way though, some 390 haulage was also coming up. 170506+170508 took me to Birmingham, and I was bored of them before we got out of the platforms! A change of clothes was done soon after departure, and I have Tech's Mobile Disco on while I got some bookwork done. Once I got out of 'Norm Mode' that is, which took some doing!

Sourcing a filter coffee from Pret for 99p was the first thing I did in Birmingham, and most welcome it was too! After a visit to an ATM, I got some bottles of flavoured water from Tesco and a portion of doner meat and chips for £5 from Urban Feast, more or less exactly opposite the Navigation Street exit. With the stomach now satisfied, I head to platform 1 and position myself for the 2010 to London Euston. The platform was rammed with football hooligans, so I was most glad of a First Class facility on this train! 390050 is another 390 with only one coach recorded on it, which I found surprising. Coach K was busy until Coventry when it emptied out, and I had a small coffee and orange juice, as the snack boxes had nothing I can eat in them. The pannetone offered was not enjoyable, so I now know not to buy one another time! The coffee is of a filtered variety so no Nero nonsense for me, and the Britvic orange juice is very nice. I noted too on the menu nothing food-wise I'd eat outside of breakfast and brunch times, worth remembering. More interesting though was Virgin's Tilting Cider, and there's a Wreckless Bitter on there too. Weekdays only and not available in Standard Class, so it won't surprise you all to learn I'm now looking at a weekday First Class run sometime! That seat sale may have to get taken advantage of!

Anyway, back to the adventure. We branch left onto the slow lines a short while before Wolverton, and as per usual I don't have my Trackmaps books with me so I don't know if it was a required micro-grice. It's a long journey down the slow lines, and we came to a halt at Wembley Central. It was eventually announced that there was a points failure in the Willesden area, but after about 17 minutes sat at Wembley we got moving. No Delay Repay for me then, although the 2210 from St Pancras was no longer an option by this point as we moved on at 2207!

I was still deciding on my moves as we charged down to London, as I had two bags [too much stuff for just my backpack! - Ed] with me and one of them had 4 litres of water in it. Therefore I didn't fancy lumping them around too much! We get held up again after the Kilburn area, as we were in a queue of trains getting into Euston. Hello Delay Repay, how nice of you to present yourself! On a £13 Advance I was informed I'd get £6.50 back so that will be a welcome addition to my bashing funds! I finally arrived at Euston at 2237, 40 down and after a leg stretch break [I'd been on the 390 for almost 2.5 hours! - Ed] I rushed down to the Victoria line and was soon onto double duds 11093+11094 to Victoria at 2248. Yes I could have done the 2311 Thameslink but I just wanted to get to Croydon and base camp. I had been awake since 0615 after all, and I was glad I had the coffee when I did. I had thought even that small coffee at 2049 on the 390 would be a bad idea, but oh that turned out to be a good move!

A fast bit of walking then got me onto the 2303 to Horsham, which turned out to be a good call as I got dud 377141 and winner 377126 on it. Roasting on board mind after all that rushing! It must be said it was one crazy bad comedown to suffer the awful interior of the 377 after the comfort of First Class on a 390! During the hold at Balham, I set my alarm for 0530, as I wanted to be up early to maximise my chance of winners. I'm predicting a lot of coffee tomorrow...So much for a 'fast' train, we were put on the slows. I'd had enough of crawling along already, this journey behind a stopping train was testing my patience!

One hell of a long day there, and no surprise things fell over on the south WCML again. Have a great day out tomorrow!

Sounded like a slow trip caused by those points failing, at least you got a required 377 out of it :)

126 sounds like one of the high density batch (all 3+2)

I was at Birmingham New Street twice on Friday night, I could even have been one of the 'football hooligans' you referred to, although the timing is strange as it was a 1945 kick off.

Nice positioning move, looking forward to the rest of the report.

Aaww...that brings back memories. Huey, Dewey, Louie, Launchpad and Uncle Scrooge. I'm going to have to see if episodes are available on You Tube as a bit of nostalgia.

Virgin also do a Tilting Ale.

That explains a lot :D I've been off work for two days so lost track of time

Oh I know that feeling, I kept thinking it was Monday today

Andy, the Tilting Ale is super dud from November 2015's Anti-Frothmas bash!

Glad some of you also have fond memories of DuckTales, I believe the episodes are all online somewhere but they took some finding when I watched them in 2010.

And now ladies and gentlemen, Day 2 is ready:

05/03/2017 - Tech Tales, Day 2

Well this was different to how I planned to spend my night! I thoroughly expected to hit the hay hard, and struggle to get up in the morning. The reality was that I couldn't sleep, there was too much excitement and, the key reason for sleeping issues I suspect, I had a stomach that demanded feeding. I also felt in dire need of a de-rancify, so after exploring options on RTT I had a shower and got out for the night! Annoyingly I didn't have my ticket in time to do a Bus Stop Bash on required tram 2557, but never mind. Now I could have simply queued for ages in Burger King, which I was amazed at being open at 0130, or gone to the 24 hour McDonalds. That would perhaps have been sensible, although I've got quite a dislike for McDonalds food these days. So what happened? I got my travelcard and went down to platform 4 for the 0143 to London Victoria. I noted the last Thameslink service of the night, and that was dud 700114.

Double duds 377425+377124 took me to London, still with a raging stomach, and I knew exactly what I would do after finding food. Night Tube! It took me forever to find anything I wanted, but eventually found The Pasty Shop where I got a giant sausage roll for £3. Hardly what I wanted, but all the takeaways that used to be around Victoria have all gone! Double duds 11090+11089 take me to Green Park, and as the next one back to Victoria was also dud I gave up and went to the Jubilee line. Winner for everything 96091 led dud 96036 for the trip to London Bridge, and I discover I have an 8 minute wait here. I knew I should have alighted at Southwark! Double winners 96010+96043 took me to Waterloo where I had another 6 minute wait, and clearly there's a lot of places around Waterloo to get drunk as there are loads of revellers here!

Dud 96067 and winner 96066 take me east again, this time to Canada Water where I have a mammoth NINE minute wait! I've never seen what's at ground level here, so go for a walk. Nothing worth seeing whatsoever [not that I expected much! - Ed] and a waste of the long walk from the Jubilee platforms! No doubt I'll have missed a winner now too, and my Travelcard doesn't like the barriers it seems. Oh this could be a fun day...My next available move back to the city was 96036+96091, the same pair I started on earlier. OK, flag that and see what does the Stratford. Good call, as it produced winner 96019 and winner for everything 96106. Even better at Canary Wharf as I had an ultra quick cross-platform change onto the next city-bound train, which produced double winners for everything 96030+96083!

By now my feet were reminding me of the need to have a proper lie down, which I had been denying them after all! Still, it turned out to be a good series of moves with a good few scores! As a result I decided it would be a good idea to return to the hotel for a few hours, and forget about doing the Boundary Zone 6 to Gatwick Airport fare to score some 387/2s. Which had been the plan around 0100 but no matter. Kite, if I was a little unsocial at any point during the day then please accept my apologies! Sadly it was double duds 11013+11014 to Victoria, and it was double duds 377413+377406 for the trip back to East Croydon. 8 winners already today, a good start!

After a few hours in bed, I make myself get up and moving. There's been overhead line damage during the night in the town centre, so all trams were terminating at East Croydon. If it hadn't been so windy and wet I'd have got the crossover done! The pair of 377/3s on the East Grinstead were dud but happily winner 455825 turned up and took me to Purley. Double duds 377106+377115 take me back north to Clapham Junction, where I got my first 707s for sight! Some 458/5s also scored for sight before winner 378139 took me to Wandsworth Road. No trains back to Clapham for 26 minutes, so I investigated bus options and found route 77 to Waterloo which would suit me just fine for meeting up with Kite.

Go-Ahead London's PVL375 was quite a noisy and rateable machine and I was at Waterloo after only 18 minutes, a most useful link and worth remembering. I passed the site of Nine Elms LU, and the construction I could see looked like it was coming on well so far. I still got to Waterloo before Kite, after he arrived a meal deal from Tesco was sourced for breakfast, which I didn't get round to eating for a good while later anyway! To the Jubilee line, and it was onto double winners 96123+96124 all the way to Stratford. No-one will be surprised to learn the Central line was our first target, as it is a line we both need a lot on.

First up was winner for everything91095 with dud 92174 and double winners for everything 92164+91245 on the back to Mile End. Double winners 91019+92052 with winner for everything 92420 and dud 91343 took us to Bethnal Green. Winner for everything 91193 had double duds 92012+92056 in the middle with winner for everything 91231 for the leap to Liverpool Street. Winner for everything 91129 had winners 92408+92160 for company and winner for everything 91285 on the back, a now rare quadruple winner, to Bank. Winner for everything 91137 led triple duds 92162+92196+91297 on yet another Bus Stop Bash to St Pauls, and double duds 91339+92104 led winner 92202 with dud 91005 on the back to Chancery Lane.

Dud 91067 led winner for everything 92254 with double duds 92242+91053 bringing up the rear to Holborn. Winner for everything 91089 headed winner 92412 with dud 92264 and winner 91043 to Tottenham Court Road. Triple duds 91249+92218+92200 led winner for everything 91279 to Oxford Circus. Triple duds 91021+92116+92078 led winner for everything 91195 onwards to Bond Street, where we joined [Kite's results will have been rather different! - Ed] winner for everything 91045 leading the charge with triple duds 92110+92068+91263 on the back to Marble Arch. Triple winners 91215+92148+92002 led dud 91035 onwards to Queensway [the Central line moves are nearly over! - Ed], and we took winners 91135+92138 with 92150+91089 westward to Notting Hill Gate. Winner for everything 91187 was married to dud 92136 and double winners 91311+91059 for the leap to Holland Park. The final [and I bet you're all glad of that too! - Ed] leap on the Central line fell to winner 91023 with dud 92234, winner 92030 and dud 91165 also in the conga line to Shepherds Bush.

Phew, that took some typing! It was time for a refreshments break next, and after all that was done we march over to the West London Line. Now I had a coffee I was certainly feeling better, my first one since Clapham Junction. Dud 378232 takes us to Gospel Oak and Kite pointed out a 800 on North Pole depot. That was my first one for sight, but sadly no number could be seen so I still have none of them in my book. The GOBLIN [Gospel Oak to Barking Line for those unaware - Ed] was open again as of recently, following months of closure for platform rebuilding, track lowering and electrification works, so it was deemed worth a look at what Network Rail's Orange Army had been grafting away at. A lot of the posts, arms and so on were up, mostly missing beyond Walthamstow yet. No wires up yet either that we could see from Super Dud 172002, and wow wasn't this train busy! A fair bit of platform extension work was still being done, and I'm assuming there's to be another big blockade before the line is fully ready for electric trains. Overall though, it was certainly worth a look as I do get interested with major civil engineering projects like the LU extension, and of course the electrification works around the country. I was still glad to get to Barking though, felt much longer than 36 minutes, so I hope any linespeed improvements and the electric trains will make the journey quicker. We rush over to the c2c side to join a slightly delayed train we were booked to miss.

It produced a very busy dud 357043 [shame it wasn't 042! - Ed] and winner 357208 for the leap to West Ham. The next 357 was only a few minutes behind, and it was dud so we did a quick bit of S7 hunting before our next mission. Double winners 21382+21381 took us to Bromley-by-Bow and double winners 21393+21394 took us back to West Ham. To the DLR, as one of Kite's last 10 DLR sets had been noted earlier and naturally he wanted to get it in, it having toyed with him when it was sat on depot on multiple previous occasions. To our surprise, it was straight onto double duds 72+13 to Stratford, and you'll never guess what we did next...

Yes, Central line bashing! Double winners 91125+92260 led double duds 92228+91121 to Mile End. Double winners 21537+21538 took us to Mansion House, and after a few minutes of hanging around we get what may well be my final D stock working, 7018+7007, to Blackfriars as we had a new mission of hunting 700s. First up however was winner 319215 which was my last 319/2 to get, happy days! Kite informs me there's a number of 319s stored on Long Marston, and I'm not overly familiar with what's going on motive power wise these days, so this was a surprise. I really must find out what's where these days, as I still need 10 319s for haulage. 15 minutes festering at Farringdon, or more like up and down over the long series of stairs at the south end of the station [the bridge which also links to LU was closed due to no LU from here all day - Ed] eventually produced winner 377519 and dud 377515 for a leap to St Pancras. I had got excited to begin with as we thought it was 377509, but no matter.

Winner for everything 700020 took us back to Farringdon, where after 14 minutes of the same style of fester, I'm in luck. Dud 377521 led winner for everything 377509 for a leap to St Pancras, at long last the 377s are all dud for sight, HAPPY DAYS! :D It was now back to Blackfriars, as the hunt for S7 winners was top priority. Getting us there was winner for everything 700018 and it was time for a coffee from WHSmith. My LORDZ that mocha was nice and well worth £2.70, highly recommended to all of my fellow coffee lovers! First up on the S7 leaping spree were double winners [as S stocks are officially half-sets they count as two halves - Ed] 21422+21421 to Temple and double winners 21319+21320 forward to Embankment. Yes, it's back to Bus Stop Bashing! Next were double winners 21465+21466 to Westminster where several duds were rejected and I finished my coffee. Double winners 21568+21567 were taken next to St James Park and double winners 21316+21315 onward to Victoria. Double winners 21333+21334 followed a few minutes later [we were never sat down for long! - Ed] to Sloane Square. Double winners 21417+21418 took us to South Kensington and we're on the island platform for less than 2 minutes before we head back east to Sloane Square on double winners 21481+21482. Ten minutes later, a long time on LU, after flagging multiple duds, we head back to South Kensington on double winners 21460+21459, camping out for 7 minutes before double winners 21502+21501 took us to Gloucester Road. Back once again to South Kensington on double winners 21405+21406 and it's a long 11 minutes before we head to Earls Court on double winners 21424+21423.

A rest stop was had here before we change tactics and join the Piccadilly line. Winner 152 and winner for everything 882 took us to Gloucester Road [Piccadilly line edition - Ed] and winner for everything 200 and dud 187 took us back to Earls Court. Winner 109 and dud 206 took us back to Gloucester Road, and winner 868 with winner for everything 190 to South Kensington. Double winners 207+210 took us to Knightsbridge, home of world famous store Harrods, before dud 149 and winner 186 carted us off to Hyde Park Corner.

Winner 188 and dud 181 took us to Green Park, and we needed to get Kite to Paddington for his homeward train to Reading. Much to my delight, it was double winners 96062+96117 to Baker Street for an easy change onto winner 3458 and dud 3266 to Paddington. First things first, we find out which power cars are on what services, and I score an HST trailer for sight much to my celebration. Kite finds one he needs and we part ways, the jammy so and so getting a de-classified First Class coach on his set. Meanwhile, it's very much time for food as it was a long time since that meal deal. Burger King to the rescue! With the stomach very much satisfied, it was back to the Bakerloo line and I got winner 3261 and dud 3450 to Warwick Avenue. It had been determined earlier that I was close to 100 winners today so I was keen to reach that target. Winner 3256 and dud 3453 took me to Baker Street after declining some duds, and an easy way to reach that target of mine was to go back to the Jubilee line.

A fantastic start was had with winner for everything 96005 which was in a relationship [I'm trying to find more exciting ways to discuss my LU moves if it wasn't obvious, not easy with such long sprees! - Ed] with dud 96060 on yet another Bus Stop Bash to Bond Street. Winner 96101 was getting involved with dud 96038 on the leap to Green Park, and my luck now got a bit better with double winners for everything 96055+96028 to Westminster. Onwards and upwards to Waterloo next, boarding winner 96021 and dud 96090. Kite's last 96 stock will not be my last one, as I got double winners 96045+96092 to Southwark. I spied a winner going west as soon as I arrived so floored it over the platform to join double winners 96058+96065 back to Waterloo.

As at Southwark, a winner was spotted going the other way so I ran over and jumped onto double winners 96089+96068 to Southwark. Winner for everything 96027 led winner 96032 to London Bridge, and by now a rest stop was most needed, so I terminate my very enjoyable Jubilee line spree and head upstairs. No fast trains to Croydon from here today, and no trains with lavatories were due away any time soon, so since I hadn't been on SET lately I head upstairs for a Dover train, RA Orpington. It was rather chilly here and it was sadly double duds 375816+375813. I should have started work on the notebook, as I had a LOT to write up by now, but I took advantage of the run to enjoy some peace and relax. I was glad I did this run after all mind when the next fast train to Charing Cross rolled in, as it was double winners 375822+375827! All the way to Charing Cross it was decided, and I'm very glad I did that too, as I scored double winners 375613+375625 back to Waterloo East!

I walked over to Waterloo next, and everything was delayed and cancelled. I pop over to Sainsburys for a snack then come back to find everything was starting to move again and there's lots of duds that I first come across, but good news ahead. My eyes found themselves looking at a winner, and it turned out to be double winners 450011+450001 which were due out shortly, nice one. Inspector Sands was busy tonight, and announcements kept sounding about a reported emergency and all passengers were to follow staff instructions. I don't know what happened there, as we didn't get asked to leave the train or anything and eventually we leave 5 minutes late. I gave up on trying to get to Wimbledon when the next train that way was a pair of dud 455s, and I settled for double duds 377405+377421 to East Croydon. I was rather tired by now, after all it was 2138 when I left Clapham Junction!

Some more snacks were sourced before I headed back to base camp absolutely exhausted. A winner tram was noted and I nearly went for it, but the wind and rain soon put paid to that. As did every part of me from head to toe, I needed a proper rest! After unwinding I hit the pillow and slept ridiculously well until the alarm!

Thats gunna be 1 monster of a rail miles update. Sick with envy at your cranckfest, I guess wer now quits after my loco bashing. Did I mention the only non loco hauled trains that day were on the underground, including all the way home?

A splendid haul there, although I must admit there are a few too many underground moves for my tastes.
I'm looking forward to day three :)

Like 55013 I think there's too much underground there, but it sounds like a great time! Score on finally getting 377509 as well - now you're not the only person not to have it!

Did Inspector Sands visit Waterloo around 21:10 by any chance? As that is normally the time on a Sunday they have the weekly fire alarm tests :)

I feel sorry for your massive forthcoming Railmiles update plus your moves book update from all those Central line moves. Agreed with that 172 to Barking feeling a lot longer than it actually takes.

Aye the RM update will take absolutely AGES! Just done the underlining and ticking in my Tube book, wow it looks better now!

I had 91129 on the Central line down as a score, which it wasn't. I was initially disappointed by that, but discovered the D stocks were both required! :D

Day 3 will be typed up and posted tomorrow, I had a load of chores that needed tackling today. Plus a bit of rest and recovery after that, oh and I've checked in for my flight on Thursday. Got lucky and landed a window seat a little in front of the left wing (10A) on the free reservation -D Will I be so lucky on the way home I wonder...

Another good read and you are a brave man doing the night tube! As stated in the past that's not for me with working nights, when I'm off I don't want to be up and about (unless it's having drinks with mates and being one of those revellers).

Looks like you had a good bash with the LU stock, however if you are like me you will still have many gaps among your LU stuff, the list never seems to decrease.

No wonder Kite said you need a new red pen! A properly intense bash from start to finish, and I quite enjoyed trying to keep track of it all.

Unfortunately, Mrs Kris decided that tonight she wanted to hear about your escapades as a "bedtime story", so thanks for making me read all that out! ;)

Looking forward to day 3 :)

Andy, I know how you feel, my books still look way too empty for my liking on the LU stuff. I did go from 703 to 582 requirements on LU, which is a fantastic result but there's still just way too much to get! Unlike Kite who needs something like 106 LU and DLR needs...

Kris, ooh ouch that can't have been fun reading all that out loud! Tell her to get on the forum next time to read it ;) I seem to have lost the red pen I had before so started on one of the 5 or 6 I had at home ready for such an occasion!

Day 3 was finished off this morning, taking almost all the way to the end of my commute to work to complete. My Red Pen and New Sights memo files were done on the homeward commute, and those will get posted in a short while. In the meantime all, here is Day 3:

06/03/2017 - Tech Tales, Day 3

The alarm was sounding at 0600 and I really wanted to tell it where to go, but as I start typing this on the bus home on 7th March I'm glad I didn't! A much needed de-rancify and bag packing [I really didn't have patience for that the night before! - Ed] before leaving the hotel around 0630, and I decline the opportunity to buy a Zones 1-6 Travelcard at £17.50, instead touching in with my card on the trams as there was the opportunity to score winner 2544 on a Bus Stop Bash to George Street. I had seen at least 2 other winners out, which had made the decision for the first part of the day easy to make. Winner 2535 took me onward to Church Street, and winner 2557 surprised me when it appeared to take me onwards to Centrale. I really thought I'd land a series of duds now, but winner 2559 came in and took me to West Croydon.

I was originally planning on calling it there and going 378 hunting, but something told me to keep going with trams. 15 minutes stood here [the seats were wet! - Ed] and winner for everything 2565 produced for a leap to East Croydon. That's Tramlink cleared once again for sight then! I knew I had one more winner out and where it had gone, so imagine my surprise when winner 2558 came up before it for another leap to George Street! Surely I won't get all 8 of my requirements today, I tell myself. Winner 2533 took me to Mitcham Junction, and my Travelcard is purchased. 7 winners out of 8, leaving just 2551 to get, was an incredible and completely unexpected result!

A pair of dud 319s were rejected and I end up on double duds 455801+455840 to winner shack Streatham. I had coloured in this one by mistake when I got my new atlas some months ago, so it was nice to fix this error at last. Dud 700018 arrives on a very busy platform and it's standing all the way to Blackfriars, being held outside the station for several minutes supposedly awaiting a platform, despite us letting a pair of 319s go in first after all. I still hadn't had a coffee or breakfast yet, and I end up on winner 700025 to Farringdon. It's time to get back onto LU and hunt some winners, and first up were double winners 21084+21083 to Kings Cross St Pancras. A few minutes later, on a very busy station, were double winners 21492+21492 to Euston Square. Here all my winners were going east, so I decide to change platforms to see how my luck went. After a long boring 14 minutes here, where I scored 4 more half-sets for sight going west [isn't that typical! - Ed] I finally end up on ridiculously busy double winners 21447+21448 to Kings Cross St Pancras. I was going to go to Liverpool Street, but my patience had expired, I needed to get food sharpish!

So on my way to finding food here I spied the 0922 to Peterborough. I can still make it if the rear 365 is a winner, and it was so I rush onto it. I discovered at Finsbury Park it was dud 365508 and winner 365528, and I go looking for food. I find Greggs and that will do quite happily for now. A sausage bap and coffee for £2.25 would do me just fine for now, and oh my days I felt better for that! I was surprised to see 3 317/3s out to play this morning, I thought they'd all stopped play on GN by now. None of the ones I saw were winners thankfully! The next Kings Cross train produced winner for everything 387118 which leaves just 387109 of the original batch to see, happy days! After some decision making and a much needed rest stop, worth every penny of 30p, I end up waiting on the 1022 to Peterborough. The back 365 was a winner, and it turned out to be double winners 365524+365505 much to my delight. 14 365s to go!

It was decided to go down to the Piccadilly line, and this turned out to be a good call as I got winner 221 with dud 856 to Manor House. Winner for everything 220 and winner 167 took me back to Finsbury Park, with winner 100 and winner for everything 121 took me to Arsenal.

I was only here for a matter of moments before joining winner 108 and dud 233 back to the park of Finsbury. It was time to hunt for winners on the Victoria line, and I had just missed a pair I needed. "Hmm sounds required" I told myself so I knew I had only a short time to position myself for it. It took me a few seconds to realise my next move was required, confirmed by a look at my memo file, and it was onto double winners 11006+11005 for a leap to Seven Sisters. I stopped to look at the set in the middle platform, happily dud, and just happened to have time to ID the next northbound set. "11068's dud" I hear myself mutter out loud, which triggered something in my head and I check my notes. Oh how wrong was I...

It wasn't long at all until double winners 11085+11086 produced for a leap back to Finsbury Park, and I'm tempted by the Piccadilly line and it's many requirements, but I stayed loyal to my mission and it's only a few more minutes before double winners for everything 11067+11068 arrive. That's the last time [until new stock one day comes - Ed] I'll get double winners for everything on the Victoria line, as I only need one half-set for sight now, 11002. Quite, only 11001, 11002 and 11074 [a victim of poor recording of moves years back - Ed] remain to be scored on the Victoria line! At Oxford Circus, I change for the Bakerloo line and score winner for everything 3456 and dud 3262 for the trip to Paddington. I first get a large coffee from Ritazza, only my second coffee of the day, and board double winners 387131+387130 on a leap to Acton Main Line. My first GWR 387s are finally in the book!

Watching HSTs here brought back lots of happy memories from the early 2000s, when I needed tons of them for sight. I was also treated to the sight of 43185 in Intercity Swallow, which looks awesome! Double winners 387133+387132 take me back to Paddington, sadly I cannot ID the IEP on North Pole depot, so there is still no ink on those pages of my NREA! 387141 got seen so a quick update to my requirements file was made. Doesn't the women who did the announcements recordings sound beyond depressed?!

Back to the Bakerloo line as it was now 1218 and I needed to get to Euston sharpish. Dud 3246 and winner 3444 took me to Oxford Circus and it was straight over to double duds 11032+11031 to Euston. I rush upstairs as fast as possible, but it's still 4 minutes before I get to the concourse, what with battling through norms! A meal deal was sourced from Sainsburys, as was some ibuprofen as the headache was getting fierce, then I go and find I still had 15 minutes until departure. Boarding was announced soon after, and I join forum celebrity 390114 to the Bat Cave. Once lunch was devoured, I spent the rest of the journey writing up my moves into my notebook, a job which took about 70 minutes to do just for Day 2!

In Birmingham I don't have time for much and source a coffee from Pret before joining 150105 on the 1449 to Hereford. I got my notebook up to date after the coffee and can reveal my Scores on the Doors for the trip:

152 winners
1 shack score
76 new sights

What an incredible result! Once in Hereford I find my Mum's still in Morrisons so, having waited for a while in the cold, I popped over and got a coffee. It's gone up from £1.42 to £1.75 now I discover, won't be making that mistake again! I was so tired from this busy trip I was in bed by 2030!

Next up is #TechsWorldFrenzy which starts tomorrow afternoon after work. Norway will soon be getting my first visit!

That's quite an impressive number of scores! Nearly 3x what I've achieved so far this year!

As expected, brilliant stuff.
If 2551 is your last required tram I suspect you will never get it.
That was the one involved in the tragic derailment recently.
