G'day everyone,

Given the recent success of the Tornado hauled timetabled runs on the S&C I was thinking that perhaps a wish list might be in order for similar operations in the future. The wish list can contain steam, diesel and electric haulage.

Having had a nice chat with a representative of the Bahamas Jubilee support group on the KVWR today my suggestion would be a Jubilee running all stops with three carriages between Settle and Carlisle. As I understand it Bahamas is likely to be maintained at Carnforth which would certainly help with arranging runs on the S&C and the Jubilees have historical links to the line when they were allocated to Holbeck.

Any more suggestions?

Kind regards,

Richmond Commuter!

For me the VEP running anywhere on the Southern region (but particularly Victoria/Charing Cross to Ashford Kent).

If it could be bolstered with a CIG, that would be brilliant.

And to complete the nostalgia, a 205 thumper on the Marshlink.

I'm feeling more and more optimistic for the VEP !

I'd like to see a class 50 festival held on a Sunday between Exeter and Yeovil Junction, with perhaps two trains running as a replacement for the 159s for the day. Maybe they could keep a 33 somewhere as Thunderbird too... :)

I've just had a peek to see how the VEP restoration fund raising is doing and it seems they have now reached the 20% mark towards the required £25,000, maybe a Rail UK Forums donation could help it along :D

Yes, with non aircon Mk 2's.

Also, if they could connect with a thumper to Okehampton, that would be super !

Could we accommodate a Warship in that festival too :D

That's great news to see it coming along !

In terms of a forum donation, it seems we may well get the chance to vote on just such a proposition.

My other suggestion in terms of haulage would be an IC125 up the Settle Carlisle. EMT or GC versions obviously.

I'd quite like to see an 86 running London to Norwich again - possibly with a 47 taking it from Norwich to Cambridge too

That wouldn't be authentic, for the real BR experience you'd have the 50 broken down in the middle of Dorset with the passengers stranded for over 3 hours with no heat. The buffet would be closed.
You'd have to have this happen every weekend for a year to recreate the true passengers frustrations with the service. :)

I think that was perhaps the point of having the 33 acting as a thunderbird loco just in case. :)

Personally (and from a very selfish point of view), I wouldn't mind a 92-hauled working from Selly Oak to Wimbledon (stabling at Kings Norton and Wimbledon E.M.U.D. respectively) to get me to/from uni at the end of each term! It's never going to happen though, but seems nice on paper.

Repeating the S&C event 2 or 3 times a year would be an option. Sometimes steam, sometimes diesel (40, 50, Deltic) and ideally running to/from Leeds or Bradford.

I have always had a notion of a 76 or 77 running on those bits of the T&W Metro with sufficient clearance, but I'm sure there are 1001 technical reasons why it couldn't be done.

Before Huddersfield's electrified I'd like to see a couple of Sunday diagrams on the Scarborough - Liverpool route turned over to classic diesels, Classes 40, 55, 47, a Peak if one were available. I reckon it would be feasible on a Sunday too, that was proven by the Tour de France specials and might be useful for extra capacity on the Scarborough - Leeds section if it were done during the summer.

.

Yes, I would agree with that. I was talking to some one from Tornado last week and he was saying how well that recent plandampf? went.:D

I think UK Railtours have done that once or twice. :D

I'll be glad when Swanage have their DMU going into Wareham, going the long way to Swanage (not over the chain ferry) can be a major PITA with the volume of traffic

Why not marshal a passenger coach behind the loco on all freight trains exclusively for the use of enthusiasts? :)

Great idea, especially the nuclear flask trains. That would leave me glowing with excitement. :D

I'd love to see a peak with MK2s through Huddersfield one day. Or on multiple times!

I totally agree about the Peak, but as much as I love mk2s I relish the thought of a rake of commonwealth or B4 bogied mk1 first and standard class compartment stock complete with an RMB minature buffet behind it.

Class 37s top and tailed on some Mk2 between Lowestoft/Great Yarmouth and Norwich would be good...

It'd be superb if we could do 'Plandampf' style weekends in the UK- lots of visiting railtours, heritage stuff in normal service, steam hauled freights, based around somewhere with a bit of history and plenty of siding/servicing space- Eg York, Derby, Exeter. If the Germans can manage it, why can't we :)

Connecting into class 86s to London (with the odd working for 55022?) that would be nice

I'd like to add 40145 into the mix (although D200 would be more apt).
