I haven't actually answered the question that is the basis of this thread. Somehow I came across the forum after googling something and I was browsing it quite regularly as far back as 2014, but I didn't think of making an account until a few months back. I decided that I browse the forum so much that I might as well join it.

I like the forum for the discussion of the minutiae of Rail Travel and also the General Topics with regard to current affairs and other matters.

It amazes me a lot of people never venture onto the General Discussion pages and restrict themselves to quizzes and bus services in outer mongolia

My anorak still awaits me !!

I was first drawn onto the forum by researching First Class Rail Travel.

Well this thread's gone quiet after a lot of posts from a lot of people and I wanted to thank everyone for their input. Many and varied were the replies!
When I first asked the question I was actually thinking of cutting my time on here down as I felt I was probably spending a bit too much time on it. Clearly that hasn't worked as I've even been looking at it in my break times and even when I get up in the mornings.
I think I've looked at most of the sections now and I've even encouraged a couple of other people to start lurking!

I'm not one to get involved in arguments (I do quite like reading other peoples ones sometimes though), I've enjoyed chipping in or asking a few questions and reading the responses from knowledgeable people. I suppose that's the thing that I like about it the most.

In this day and age there sometimes seems to be almost a celebration of stupidity in some circles yet here on this forum is a pure celebration of intelligence, knowledge and at times humour.
It's been welcoming too.
If anyone else is lurking like I did for a while before joining I say just do it.

Sorry to bump this one up, but I've noticed over the last couple of months quite a few new people have joined and I wondered..? Well the clue's in the title I suppose. And I'm a bit nosy.

Since then my one true ambition has been to meet yorkie at a forum meal

People have been doing that for about 15 years or so, it's no new development

I occasionally surprise myself by running into folk I've not seen for years out and about, which is nice!

I'm more of an avid reader of the forum than a poster. Hence the very low count post wise. In another 100 years I should be up to 20,000.

I've learnt lots.
Met some really nice forums members.
It rekindled my passion for railways in general.

I always read the disputes section first.

I stumbled across the site, along with the "R M Web" prototype section, when I was looking into the current plans for a bit of old track that interested me.

Now I use the site as respite from the generally more brutal world of the comments sections on newspaper sites.
