Noticed today a southern liveried 377 with thameslink branding removed. I assumed this was in preparation for its move to Southern rather than to do with the logo change

Later I saw an 8 car 319 one white one fcc liveried both with logos removed. First capital connect was still visible just!

I am sure the fount of knowledge 377/5 will shed some light on this ;)

Thanks :D

While I am not 100% why with this example, the 377/2 aren't due to leave just yet (387/1 first) but its fairly close.

I'd guess it's more to do with the fact they won't have many labels especially as they changed to the new design. Old one may have been damaged so was removed.

Any idea of unit units? Would help narrow it down.

The 319s it might likely be units to head off (two leave this weekend).

Saw 209 at Brighton today with branding removed (coupled to 208). Also appeared to have non functioning PIS (my speculation is that 209 had been through the repair shop and 'put back' to southern programming/routes but then found was needed for TL quickly, thus no PIS data)

I travelled on a 377/5 today that has had new seat covers including the priority seat triangle stamped on said seats... only on the headrest part

Other units have used the old first class pattern for priority seats

PTSO or platform depending on the weather
Not sure if relevant to this thread but 377.212 has been totally debranded and is back in Southern green

I expect the repaint is in preparation for its return to (former) Southernland (as part of its overhaul), but then I don't understand why the Class 377/5s didn't revert back to green

May I ask, which 319's are due to leave soon? Just interested to know if they're any that I've been on recently. 319451 left for Long Marston a few days ago
Saw a pic of 377 212 back in Southern colours. I didnt think the FCC livery on it was just a vinyl, and doesnt look like its had a full repaint.

the 3x 377/2s that were in FCC colours were vinyls over the southern livery.

The 377/5s are painted purple. When they go back to southern its very doubtful they will be repainted. Maybe SOuthern vinyl or just branding.

It's very because it was quickly needed for Thameslink. One of the released 377s was due to go to Southern to replace 377442 to keep the canon four car availability the same.

209/211 were the pairgoing through Selhurst at the time. 377211 was chosen for a very good reason (that I'm not going to talk about) Hence 209 wentback to Thameslink.

Believe the plan is for 501-523 to have vinyl if anything.

Worth noting all of Thameslink 377s will be released and sent/returned to Southern in the next few months. This is, and always has been been, the plan.

ok cheers. Obviously the cost is not worth repainting them..... i cautionous mention that the southern brand is in a bad place at the moment for reasons we all know about..... im wondering if it really worth them even being vinyled.......(passengers just want a train!!!)..... I find it hard to see that the southern name will remain all the way til 2021 and maybe govia still being in charge til the end of the franchise. With this in mind... a neutral livery or even a new brand should be considered.

With the DfT looking at keeping branding the same I doubt it will change. Passengers know there are different companies running the show as recent issues have shown.

As for changes, we'll see.

Right so all ex thameslink 377s to Southern including those eight on short term loan to southeastern

As for what that leaves southeastern...

I must say the /5s look very smart at the moment

As per all the posts I've written on this subject, they get some of the 377/1. Were are in the interim stage not final, which seems to be confusing everyone.

Whoever took the FCC vinyls off 377207 (working London end of 377213 on 1G42 1848 St Pancras International to Bedford as we speak) has applied the wrong numbers to carriage 77177 as it shows 78177 on one side.

Are there no more 377s in full FCC livery then now all 377/5 are in plain purple? have the 3 377/2 that were vinyled returned to southern livery... It seems at least two have?

I think 377207/211/212 are the numbers

377 211 has re entered traffic at Southern, just seen it on the back of a Portsmouth Harbour and Bognor Regis service.

I drove 211 today. Yes it's back in full SN colours. The only bit to show it was TLK in the cab was a cover over the GSM-R Big Red Button and the sticky bit where the formation slider was!
