Don't know any more but totally agree with your sentiments!
At Hanwell the cancellation was announced as a signalling problem but at Paddington the 07:33 was announced as cancelled due to lack of traincrew.

It says on the website that services are terminating at hayes due to a signalling fault and to catch the 140 not cancelled. Man if I paid £6.00 to catch the 140 I would be ****ed.
Tfl alerts say a signal failure at stockley bridge and the ticket aacceptance has been booked on behalf of great western trains

There's a signal failure on the Airport branch, severely limiting capacity for trains coming from the Airport (trains need 3 clear signal sections instead of the usual 1).
To prevent a problem on the Airport branch spilling over and impacting the GWML the Connect service was suspended - the HX can run because they just go straight up the Main non-stop. It makes no odds where the gap they slot into is; just that one exists. The Connects have to come out in their paths though, otherwise they have a massive impact on the remainder of the Relief line service. Following representations by GWR at the impact this was having with overcrowding and PPM failures, the Connects were re-instated to Hayes Bay.

Last time I checked, that didn't go to Ealing Broadway or Southall.
Sounds like a job for the 105/140 buses to me...

There is also the 350 from Hayes and Harlington, and West Drayton to Terminal 5, and the U3 from West Drayton to Central Bus Station.
Most airport workers drive, on Google earth look at the staff car parks around the airport. Free bus service to/from car parks into terminal areas. Everything is up and running at 6.00am.

Southall is a faor old trek from heathrow on the 105 you would be better going to hayes and getting the 140 for terminals 1,2 and 3 the 140 +555 for termimals 4 or the 350 from west drayton to terminal 5.

In my day (!!!) the only way to get to and from Heathrow was by road. When it was all being planned, it was thought that road access was, and would forever be sufficient. Rail access? What is that? You mean trains? - going to Heathrow? What nonsense!

You're lucky to get a staff car park pass these days as most of those car parks are full. Wait around central bus station at midday when crew changes happen and you will see how many staff use public transport.

I imagine a lot of airport staff use the 24 hour bus routes - 105, 111, 140, 222 and 285 along with the N9 to get to/from Heathrow during the night.
Other "daytime" bus routes start early such as the 350, 482 and 490 all have first services arriving at Heathrow at 04:00.

Issues like this would be an irritation for anyone planning to use the service to reach the airport for a flight or work.
However, as detailed, there are bus alternatives available. I'd hope the number of people missing their flight or being significantly late for their airport job would be minimal, given the numerous and frequent bus alternatives available.
