I was wondering the same.
Recap:
Clue 1 - South of London Euston
Clue 2 - None electrified
Clue 3 - Has 3 platforms but only two used regularly
Clue 4 - One weekday service from London, no regular service to London

In the absence of any guesses, I will move on to Clue 5: This station is 55 chains East of the main station in this town, a station which also has three platforms, the up/down mains run between platforms 1 & 2 with those platforms on loops.

Ok, one day on, no takers?

The station I was looking for was Newbury Racecourse, at clue 4 it is served by the last Paddington - Bedwyn Monday to Friday but for the rest of the time is only served by Reading - Newbury/Bedwyn services. I noticed occasional services to Paddington on some race days, but not all. I guess I was lucky when I was detrained from a 165/6 on to an HST there after the former failed and I was able to complete my trip to Paddington without having to change at Reading.

According to the rules I set the next round but I'll declare an open floor.

I'll have it please:

1. This station is served by direct service to a one capital in the UK.

I was rather confused by that as well. As you say there is only one capital which is London. Unless A Challenge is referring to capitals of counties (where the county council head office is based)? Such as Guildford is the capital of Surrey and Winchester is the capital of Hampshire etc?

I mean the nation capital of the nations of the UK, being Cardiff (Queen Street or Central), Edinburgh (Waverley) or any of the London Stations. Plus, using that notion of County Towns (County Hall) which isn't the one I use, that does agree with Guildford, Surrey's County Hall is in Kingston, the only one in the country outside its county boundary.

1. This station is served by direct service to a one capital in the UK.
2. This station is served by two TOCs

3. Both TOCs that serve here serve London.

4. Every station that can be reached directly (without passing through another on a passenger service) has less than three platforms, with this station having two.

Can you clarify clue 4 please? It seems that you are saying that every station with direct trains from this station has either one or two platforms? But then i dont get what the "without passing through another on a passenger service" means?

I mean that every station that is a next station, so for example for Warwick Parkway it would be Hatton and Warwick, but for Birmingham New Street, it would be Smewick Rolfe Street, Five Ways and Hamstead out the west end and Duddeston, Water Orton and Adderley Park.

I'm going to say Bradford-on-Avon, but it still has one service per day to London Paddington M-F, looking at RTT it has lost the once a day from Paddington which I used to get to Hungerford once, and there are some weekend services to Waterloo.

The correct answer is Romsey:
1. GWR to Cardiff, SWT don't serve London from here
2. Served by GWR and SWT
3. GWR serves London Paddington, SWT London Waterloo.
4. Romsey has two platforms, as do Redbridge and Mottisfont and Dunbridge, with Chandler's Ford having 1.
5. This tells us that the capital being London, and so stations from Bristol to Salisbury are excluded under 1 or 2.
