Opened in 1998.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---

Garston Station was on a totally seperate site to the (new) existing LSP platforms 5 & 6 which cover the Northern 3rd rail lines - I think about 200 yds apart, so technically a closure.

Did Garston have to go through a formal closure procedure? I know Rochester had to, albeit much more recently.

Merthyr was re-located when the line to the terminus was truncated a little further back and a Tesco built on the original site. On approach through a small shopping mall there is a picture of the old roofed train shed with 4 bay platforms. Now a single line.

The stations that I know of which have reopened since 2000 or are due to do so in the near future are: Brighouse, Glashoughton, Apperley Bridge, Kirkstall Forge, Low Moor, Ilkeston, Warrington West, Elland, Wilton Parkway, Royal Wotton Bassett and Corsham.

Oldham Loop Line stations, Folkestone Harbour, Newhaven Marine and Etruia are the ones that I know have since closed.

You're getting a tad ahead of yourself with Elland... it's little more than an aspiration so far, although it was originally supposed to open along with Brighouse in 2000. Newhaven Marine is not technically closed.

Warrington West - Fairly likely. Looking for funding
Elland - Not before 2020 unless they have sneaked an NSF bid in under the radar
Wilton Parkway - Aspirational
Royal Wootton Bassett and Corsham - More likely than Wilton Parkway
.

Would Custom House qualify for 'closed' status, or is it irrelevant due to reopening in 2 years time?

It would have been formally closed along with the other station on the North Woolwich route (except West Ham, which retains c2c services). Crossrail was not committed at the time of closure.

Custom House has of course remained as a DLR station throughout.

Howwood (Renfrewshire) was re-opened on the same site as the 1876 station in March 2001, during the National Express era.

Thanks for all the info. Its amazing to see quite how many stations have opened since privitisation! Does anyone know did Snailham (on the Marshlink Line) close since privitisation? I remember hearing and reading about this station but cant remember exactly when it was closed?

Quick's Chronology says 02 February 1959.

Folkestone Harbour and Weymouth Quay have closed

Ashchurch opened in 1997

Folkestone Harbour Closure Ratification.

http://orr.gov.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0014/13334/stn-closure-ratiification-notice-folkstone.pdf

Ratification Notice issued 31/07/2014. Displayed at Folkestone Harbour until 28/08/2014. Station deemed permanently closed after that date.

No such Ratification Notice has yet to be issued for Weymouth Quay. On a Technicality Weymouth Quay is still open.

Although the formal consultation for closure of Norton Bridge has started and is currently advertised on a poster on the concourse of Birmingham New Street station.

I wait for the ORR Ratification Notice of Closure before updating my records.

The Weymouth Harbour branch does not need a closure consent. When the closure provisions of the 1993 Railways Act came into force (1st April 1994), it already had had no regular, scheduled services for more than 5 years and therefore no 'qualifying use'. It is closed.

Mountain Ash was relocated 'sideways' in January 2001.
St Pancras Eastern Interim station opened April 2004 and closed July 2006.
Filton Abbey Wood opened 1996.
Filton closed 1996.

I thought there was a short period when both Filton stations were in use but that well known 'Wiki' site suggests one closed as the other opened.

.

I disagree - there was no such station.
Whilst St. Pancras was being rebuilt trains were temporarily diverted to different platforms. During this period the Midland Main line services terminated at the platforms on the east side of the station now used by SE (Javelin) domestic services.

It closed on 27 May 1994 thus became the first to close in privatisation (which occurred on 1st April 1994)

Depends on what cut-off date you use! For Staff Travel purposes, the "relevant date" is 1st April 1996 (though the first two franchises, namely Great Western and South West Trains, commenced operations on 4th February 1996).

I transferred from BR to Railtrack on 1st April 1994 which was the parliamentary legal date at which the privatisation process began although I agree it took several years to implement. Ditton Junction was therefore owned by Railtrack.

I think (but not certain) Camelon, Drumfrochar, Glenrothes and Wallyford were opened in the last few months of British Rail.
In regards to Wallyford, all the literature I have seen on it indicate Railtrack opened it but it had been in planning for as long as Musselburgh had. Musselburgh was intended to be named Musselburgh West and Wallyford would have been Musselburgh East. For some unknown reason it was delayed 6 years and the name Wallyford was used instead.
