Liverpool L St Virgin 1st Class Lounge.

A quickie :

During the Xmas break we will be having a day in Glasgow, travelling from L'pool L St to Wigan N W with Northern then Virgin 1st class to Glasgow C.

Do you think Virgin would let us use their 1st Class lounge for a quick coffee at L'pool L St even though we are not travelling directly from L'pool ? We will have a valid Virgin 1st class ticket and would be using it in their normally allowed time scale.

If not, it's no big hassle !

I make this journey a lot in exactly the way you describe but it's never occurred to me to use the Virgin lounge at Lime Street, I've only ever been in when I've been on my way to Euston.

Maybe ask the people in the Virgin ticket office first, and show them your tickets there, the conversation on the buzzer at the door could be quite confusing.

If the answer is no and you have a long wait ahead of you, the upstairs lounge of the Holiday Inn directly across the road has been recently refurbished and is pleasant enough. They'll be happy to let you use that for the price of a couple of coffees.

We had a few people travelling from Lime Street who couldn't make the train in time and instead went to Runcorn to catch it. The staff there were more than happy to let them use the 1st class lounge. Worth asking, though at Lime Street the lounge isnt manned and you just hold a ticket up to what I imagine is a poor quality camera.

That'll be a "VTWC & Connections" ticket, so you should be able to use lounge despite travelling with Northern as far as Wigan.

Agreed if you have a 1st class ticket from Liverpool then I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to use the lounge. If you have a standard class ticket from Liverpool to Wigan and then a 1st class ticket onwards then I would still be tempted to try my luck!

We did try and were granted access on showing our tickets. The decent coffee and biscuits were much appreciated.
