Yes report it. Shame you couldn't zoom in more.

They are not going to listen to you, especially if you are younger than them. They may listen to BTP but it's questionable whether BTP will be able to identify them. Be careful as some people may attack you for lecturing them.

You shouldn't have spoken to them, just film* and let them die. It was their own stupid faults.

*unless you weren't the camera man, of course!

Charming! In the UK human life is valuable, and if someone dies, whether through their own idiocy or not, other people are affected, so it's not unreasonable to try and make them see sense.

From their responses, either they (she) did want to die, in which case no amount of lecturing will change anything; in fact, spelling out the dangers will only confirm their view that suicide is easily achievable in this way, or they were intent on malicious activity, and should be reported to the BTP, or local police, who may have them on record already.

If (multiple) suicide really was the intention, it's hard to see why they would not have just used the crossing anyway and avoided suspicion beforehand. I know it's far more complicated than that, but their position didn't seem right for that intended outcome. They/she also didn't seem as upset as someone might do in those circumstances, nor did they/she seem to be as incoherent as someone might who was either drugged or drunk.

Stupidity has nothing to do with attempted suicide (very often the reverse is true in fact) IF that was the intention. If it was simple malicious trespass, that may be a different story.

Another thread where my curiosity is piqued. Some excellent context is provided by searching the member's previous posts!

Indeed!

Just remember if there's only one of you, and two or more of them it's best to keep quiet, for your own safety.

They have walked from the unmanned crossing down the line, away from the crossing. It is definately wrong, and should be passed on. You were still on the unmanned crossing so you have done nothing wrong. Best thing to do is pass it on to BTP ;)

Although your intentions might be good i would say that talking to tresspassers is a very unsafe thing to do. Many tresspassers are not the sort of people that you want to be around and are the same sort of people who carry out vandalism and grafitti and have anti social behavior. There is a high chance that many trespassers could become aggressive and try to attack you. Some of them might even carry knives or other weapons on them. I personally think that the best thing to do is just ignore them and carry on.

Well I'm 19 the odds of me being older then them is high. Also there is that risk but I get angry and frustrated at these people and it's not fair on drivers and it causes so much trouble if they did get hit. Thanks for the info

True.. my main concern was to get her off the track regardless before that train passed I couldn't go and grab her so I needed to confront her regardless... she still trespass and could of caused a lot of hassle if things went the other way

Thanks for your reply.

As long as you're aware of the risks!

I'll often have a go at people doing something wrong; if they were to become threatening, I can run faster than most people if it came to it

The problem there is there are more of them than there are of you, and if you're on your own in a secluded place, if they did decide to attack you, you'd have to get out of there sharpish because you wouldn't want to get into a physical confrontation with them.

And retreating to your home may not be the best move if they're also local and they then know where you live.

Far too often people think it's acceptable to engage in behaviour that impacts negatively on others, and I do applaud people who want to challenge them, but you do need to be careful.

Next time zoom in, and the images would be much more useful to anyone wanting to identify them.

If that girl is truly suicidal she needs help so get the BTP involved ASAP. Mental illness is a terrible thing.

I travel a lot in Eastern Europe presently and in some countries it appears the norm to walk off the ends of platforms and cross main lines, even with young children and prams, seems madness to me, but everyone seems to do it, I suppose they must be fatalities

What an utterly vile sentiment. I would like to think anyone with a shred of decency would make an attempt to prevent :

1. People dying
2. Their families suffering a horrendous loss
3. A driver having to watch his train run someone over while he's powerless to do anything bar slam the brakes on and hope they get out the way
4. The horiffic job the emergency services have in the aftermath

As long as they themselves did not enter a dangerous situation in said attempt.

If it was suicide as the prime motive, then I deeply apologise for my 'vile sentiment'.

But I doubt it was. She sounded fake saying that.

They were trespassing and of that there is no doubt, however, given how fast the trains passed I would be thinking that the unmanned crossing was only marginally safer. Still not free of trip hazards but much more level. I still kind of think the camera man did the right thing, you can't put a price on the mental damage caused to the driver or train crew and the emergency services by having to pick up bits of a person from the tracks, however, what if disturbing them meant that they ran on to the tracks and they got hit. At the same time for the camera man, taking on 3 people who are already breaking the law could be seen as foolhardy.

It looked to me as if she'd been caught short. Why else was she pulling up clothing at the beginning of the clip?

Yeah, after a second view it looks like the cameraman filmed a girl having a wee probably not in the most appropriate place.

This must be the only place on the internet where someone can post a video of a guy standing next to a girl pulling up her knickers, and people conclude the girl was having a wee!

You guys haven't lived. ;)
