I came across this on my usual route to school - I heard Celia Drummond announce

'This station is Marble Arch. Exit here for Oxford Street. Customers for the intersection between Oxford Street and Regent Street, please remain on this train and alight at Oxford Circus. This is a Central Line train, terminating at Epping'
So I decided to film and record the announcement for the approach to Bond Street. In my opinion, I feel that the announcements are quieter than the current ones (I think these ones are being trialled or something), but the announcements are more sophisticated - with the addition of more 'Exit here for' announcements.

Note: the above post is not factually correct; please see later posts for clarification.

Is this real?
I was definitely on the train and I heard the announcement, definitely Celia's voice, but I guess this is in the very early stages of rolling out. I was thinking if this was just a trial, but I did hear her voice 'This is Marble Arch...'. This was a coincidence in terms of finding out about these announcements and I don't know if anyone else has heard them either. I forgot to take the carriage number :(

That looks and sounds very fake. There are no plans to change the announcements on the Central Line until at least 2019 ready for the 2020 DDA (or whatever it's called) requirements due to the sheer amount it costs to change them.

Celia Drummond also voices Jubilee Line and Northern - same voice so please do not criticise my video like that.

I dont want to accuse anyone of posting fake videos but i must say that i agree with lewisrday that it has a very fake sound to it. It sounds like a sound clip of this has been added to this video and then posted on to Youtube. It just sounds strange. I also went on four Central Line trains yesterday and they all still had Emma Clarke. If it is real then i am very surprised that they are changing the announcements.

It sounds like a sound clip from a simulator, MSTS or whatever you kids are playing nowadays...

Sure a tweet to TFL would clear this one up.

I follow the youtube channel in question and see no reason to believe its fake as none of the other content appears to be. However, it does sound strange on the vidio I agree.

If true, Il be sorry to see Emma go.

You paid £110 for a fake clip? It doesn't even sound like Celia

I don't know why, but this voice reminds me of that woman who voiced the subway cars on GTA4! :D

I'm sorry lad , better luck next April fools? ;)

This has failed...

It was supposed to be a teaser video to thank everyone for subscribing/viewing, so I thought I would leave the teaser bit out but everything backfired.

At least I've got the individual sound clip to share - I paid £110 for this clip from Celia:

Odd. It comes across as an attempt to mislead anyone reading this forum (though it's not obvious what you'd gain from that) and get some more views for your videos (in quite an expensive way).

This video is called a treat. Merry Christmas.

I don't call a post misdescribing a video it links to "a treat". It's closer to "a lie".

If you'd put "I've gone to some effort to see what new Central Line recordings could sound like" that might be a treat.

You might also want to check that your contract with Celia doesn't prohibit you from using her voice to misrepresent your video.

The 'voice' may be real but what is being said can certainly be manipulated.

Have you not used software like Audacity or Reaper in ICT/Computing/Music Technology lessons?

Indeed.

For the avoidance of doubt, this thread would be absolutely fine if posted on 1st of April, but on any other day people will simply interpret it as an attempt to mislead. However I am sure we can accept there was no bad intention but it doesn't come across well.

Nevermind, you know for future reference, and I am sure you can come up with something good in 4 months time! (though we'll be expecting it now, so are less likely to be fooled... ;))
