Trivia: Who operates your local station?

As per title. It's London Midland for me at present, although in the recent past it has been Network Rail (Waverley) and VTWC (Lancaster).

The concourse and booking hall seem to be reasonably well kept (helps that the station is new) but the platforms themselves are a bit grim and could do with some sprucing up IMO.

Arriva Trains Wales, but being in a small town/village place, there are no services to speak of. No ticket machines, no ticket office... no building at all really. And it's a request-only stop. So yeah... middle of nowhere! xD

Selected what used to be the right answer (VTWC, Stafford) before remembering that I moved in August and the answer is now Network Rail (Birmingham New Street). I still prefer Stafford station, old and unstylish though it may be.

Merseyrail... not the most exciting of services but they do a pretty good job across the board.

Great Northern almost certainly carry the most passengers to/from Cambridge, but it's a Greater Anglia station. I'm guessing this is a hangover of the Liverpool Street being the "mainline". There are GN stations further down the line- Waterbeach, then all the stations from Littleport to Kings Lynn- so there's no gerographical reason that it couldn't be GN

Northern for me, though at some indeterminate point in the future, most services will be operated by TPE. AFAIK the operator will remain Northern.

My nearest (3 minute walk) station is Cressington (Merseyrail), but the next nearest and best for long distance services is Liverpool South Parkway. This is operated as a bus-rail interchange by Merseytravel (i.e. the PTE rather than the train company) and while Merseyrail serve two platforms the others are served by Northern, London Midland, TPE and East Midland. While the Merseyrail branding and colour scheme is everywhere, the ticket machine (when it works) seems to be operated by Northern and I am not sure who exactly operates the station.

That must mean a very small area for your location being closer to New Street than Moor Street (Chiltern), Snow Hill (LM) or Five Ways (LM) all within walking distance of BHM.

geographically maybe not, but GN would have probably removed all staff and ticket buying facilities save a few TVMs. What's Gn's largest station? Cambridge is too important to be mismanaged.

Bryn is only Northern operated and gets the standard hourly service apart from the morning and evening rush hour. It has been done up to coincide with the electrification of the line and is modern with bus shelters, CCTV and PIS. No idea about ticket machines there though as I use Wigan stations.

I don't count Moston as a station, rather a over elaborate pit where they sometimes choose to stop but that still leaves the closest as Manchester Victoria or Mills Hill so still the same response with Northern.

NRE says Merseyrail, just above the picture

... and the ORR licence for Merseyrail concurs.

Edit: Sometimes NRE gives the wrong operator, for example it gives Scotrail for Prestwick International Airport but actually the licenced operator is Prestwick Airport. It gets Southend Airport right (Stobart Rail), so it's not just down to insisting on TOC names.

Mine is TSGN, the GN section. Though Cambridge is close, St. Neots is my station. Pretty plain and simple and it's run well. Big shout out to Nev the ticket man.

Yes, some stations served by trains operated by LM, Chiltern, c2c and GTR (and possibly others) are managed by LU, so I've added LU to the list.
