I have received an assessment day invite this afternoon.

It seems the assessment days will run from the end of this month through to the start of Feb.

If you don't mind me asking...what are the dates? I presume you have been allocated an assessment centre or does it tell you them all?

It gives you them all and asks you to choose. There are 14 of them!

It tells you them all, and they are on a fortnightly basis until January then they run weekly. Times are 0830-1200 or 1300-1630.

The locations are York, kings cross, Newcastle and Edinburgh.

So after getting through to the online test, and then getting a rejection email having completed the test, I've now been told I scored highly on the test and have been invited to an assessment centre! What on earth is going on

These are apparently a variety of amazing group assessments... that is all the detail provided unfortunately.

Haha I really don't know what I've received by mistake and what was intentional. I'm hoping the rejection was a mistake and the assessment day invite intentional

Worried now... surely can't take that long to pump out a bunch of emails once they'd started? And I've not heard anything...

I have also had an invite (I'm qualified and didn't do the online test) so I have responded and asked for the York assessment day.

That's pretty much how they explained it in the original advert I think, only the Checking Test was an additional step..

To be honest I think the checking test was thrown in to buy a little time for the "sifters". I completed the same checking test with another toc and had a response in under 5 minutes.

My friend is a non qualified driver and he didn't complete it as it and is invited to assessment centre so no it wont.

I'm not employed in the rail industry.

I think the assessments for the qualifieds and non qualifieds are different as I had just 2 dates to choose from. One date was York and the other kings X.

It also said in my email that if successful at the assessment stage a medical would be booked at a later date.

Do you think that maybe... just maybe the invites have been sent based upon content of CV, the cover letter meeting the requirements they set in the job advert.... combined with score of the checking tests and then sectioned into groups of people applying to the same station?

The order at which the invites are sent has no correlation to where you are in the pecking order, it's just automated and somebody has pressed a button on a computer which has sent the emails based on a series of lists.

It's a possibility. All correspondence I've had has said the same thing "we love your CV and letter"

I feel my cover letter was very strong and word count for the two paragraphs was 97 and 100.

Doncaster and Leeds are on the list of depots. It's the assessment days that are York/kings X (and a couple of other locations for non qualified it seems)
