Is there a chance I won't be prosecuted

Is the a blanket policy by FGW / GWR to prosecute people without a valid ticket? The revenue inspector said that it could be a fine upto £80 but said it was up to someone else.
They took down my details and so do I just sit and wait for a letter? How reasonable are FGW / GWR?

i have messed up, made some stupid mistakes. I would just to sort this out. When the letter from grw comes asking for my version of the events should I just say 'I accept I was in the wrong' and try to make a payment so they won't take it any further??

Without any detail it's impossible for anyone to give you useful advice.

GWR has a clear (and sensible) policy that you can read here. In summary, that company treats prosecution as a last resort after other methods of settling the matter fail.

Secondly, if you provide more details on this thread anonymously (either now or later when you get a letter), people may be able to confirm that the company is acting correctly, or suggest if it might be exceeding its powers, something which does happen from time to time.

Afraid this sets alarm bells ringing for me, because it sounds like more than one instance, or another complicating factor - but furlong is right, without more info (not the station names, obviously, or anything else incriminating) none of the experts here can help.
