railtour info dosnt list the tour on their site so was wondering if anyone had any more info as was planning to catch it somwhere on the fawley line if possible

Any timings as I would like to see the railtour on the Marchwood branch. Incidentially the oil refinery is no longer served by rail, campaigners are trying to save the branch....this railtour could be the very last train to Fawley as only the military sidings at Cracknore Hard are currently in use

How often is the line towards Ludgershall used these days seeing as the camp has closed (with most of the area flatten for houses)?

can you get on any stations on the line? as ive heard there is 1 station where the signal box is still maned to open the gates manually, or if not is there a good vantage point somwhere

Also thanks for timings, the station would be Marchwood, where there are full width traditional level crossing gates, controlled by the adjacent signal box, and a set of semaphore signals as well

The front carriage has been reported as derailing on the Eastern Docks Branch approaching Canute Road

NR staff are on site, inspecting the train and track. It seems that the leading carriage (a generator vehicle) is off the rails.

Reported on board as rear bogie of the generator car and front bogie of the first dining car off the road. NR and BTP on scene but no news yet on whether any of the remaining schedule will be possible

When we eventually get moving. Calling additionally at Southampton Airport for slightly more choice of train.

Expect the tour to be terminated, but hopefully will be run again.

Hopes that the line may be saved as far as Dibden if a proposed development goes ahead and the developers are prepared to invest in the railway

i was at marchwood aswell and guy said the tour was cancelled so hopefully it will run at a later date

Finally terminated at Eastleigh at 14:30, less one first class diner and the generator car, left behind on the Docks branch.

UKR said they would email ticket holders asap, and hoping to rerun the trip on some future date.

I bailed alongside others at Southampton Airport and the first Waterloo service was busy in the front coaches but the rear coach was around 75% full which was a pleasant surprise.

The rails spread due to the sleepers being rotten and giving way. It is probably just the case that the charter was the final straw for the crumbling sleepers, as the tour passed an ex-Eastern Docks car train at Eastleigh.

I guess if that were the case the pax would've been decanted into buses to the station. So this stretch of track I assume NR are responsible for then? Not wanting to apportion blame, just curious.

I assume the derailment is on approach to Southampton Eastern Docks looking at RTT, and several freight trains destined for the docks have been cancelled.

So the track is used , albeit not a lot, so could cause problems ..?

The track is used multiple times a day, I've been held up at Canute Road level crossing more times than I care to remember.
