Hi all,

It costs the same for me to go fro Peterborough [PBO]>King's Cross [KGX] as it does PBO>Moorgate [MOG].

I work by Liverpool street, so i could get a season ticket for PBO>MOG and walk the 5 mins to the office

My question is can I go PBO>KGX>MOG via LUL or PBO>KGX>St Pancras [STP]>>Farringdon [ZFD]>MOG on this season ticket without having to change at Finsbury Park [FPK] or Stevenage [SVG].

This would make a massive saving on me getting a season ticket with a Z1-6 add on.
Thanks in advance.

Peterborough - London Terminals is valid into King's Cross or Moorgate, and also on LU between King's Cross St Pancras & Moorgate. (Just don't go trying to break your journey at, say, Angel!)

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showpost.php?p=1315636

If a National Rail ticket, with a destination/origin of London Terminals is valid into/out of King's Cross, then it is also valid for travel for a direct journey between King's Cross St. Pancras and either Old Street or Moorgate only. Break of journey is not permitted.
You can use the sub-surface Metropolitan Railway or the Northern Line tube.

Please avoid the use of abbreviations without explaining them first, as not everyone is familiar with them. In addition, when using them, please ensure these are the correct CRS codes.

FAR does not exist. Do you mean Farringdon (ZFD)?

If so, then yes, you can use your season ticket on the Underground between King's Cross and Moorgate, but intermediately only at Old Street.

You might find that knowledge about this interavailability at Underground gatelines is a bit lacking so you may need to stand your ground, or even purchase new tickets and seek refunds afterwards sometimes. This potential hassle needs to be factored into your consideration for cost savings.

In my experience the barriers at Kings Cross Underground stations accept appropriate 'London Terminals' tickets but the knowledge of some of the staff about the inter-availability is appalling.

Thanks for updating the post bb21.

Thanks all for your responses. I am sure when I had a London Terminals ticket before it would not go through the LUL UTS Gateline

That's what I found when I had a Stamford to London season ticket a few years back.

Learnt something new, I thought the use of the underground was only acceptable when the Finsbury Park - Moorgate route want operating.

Good news. Although to old street the northern line is more overcrowded than Finsbury Park direct.

I'm not convinced a 'Great Northern Only' ticket is valid on the Underground between Kings Cross St Pancras and Moorgate because you aren't using Great Northern between Kings Cross and Moorgate.

I know the timetable has changed but it always used to be after 10pm. (Once the direct route closed)

And immediately after the request about abbreviations we have LUL UTS.

I can work out the first bit, but UTS?

We're talking about two different things here:

- The inter-available route between Finsbury Park/Kings Cross and Moorgate. 10pm has nothing to do with it - it's inter-available at all times.

http://www.railforums.co.uk/showpost.php?p=1315636

National Rail single, return and season tickets also have validity on London Underground or DLR services if listed below. These are known as 'Interavailable routes.' If this applies, tickets are only valid to enter/exit the Underground/DLR system at the station(s) listed. Note that any route restriction still applies, for example a ticket routed 'Not Underground' or 'FCC Only' would not be valid as appropriate.

National Rail tickets valid between (<>) the following stations also have validity on London Underground/DLR services, as described for each flow below.

Note that tickets are NOT valid at intermediate stations unless specified otherwise.

Finsbury Park <> London Terminals
Valid between Finsbury Park and King's Cross St. Pancras on LU (intermediately at Highbury & Islington ONLY);
Valid between King#s Cross St Pancras and Moorgate on LU (intermediately at Old Street ONLY)

- The use of a Peterborough-London Terminals route:Great Northern Only only ticket on the Underground under the inter-available rule. This isn't allowed as mentioned above.

Yes.

Just to expand a little to show the difference, the validity to Moorgate on London Terminals tickets via the Sub Surface Lines or the Northern Line was the result of the discontinuation of FCC services to Moorgate via Farringdon due to platform extension works at Farringdon.

I thought it went back much further than that. Wasn't it the closure of the Hotel Curve in 1976 which ended through services from the Great Northern route onto the Widened Lines?

I'm not old enough to remember that.
