Question Regarding Break of Journey

I have a ticket from Banbury to Reading (Off-Peak Dat Return £8.25 with railcard).

I am pretty sure that I could have a break of journey at Oxford with these tickets. So based upon that being true; would a break of journey at Didcot Parkway be allowed? This being based on GW trains stopping at Didcot but XC ones not, however, both go from Oxford to Reading.

Is Banbury - Oxford - Didcot Parkway - Reading a valid route then?

I would assume Banbury - Oxford - Reading is. I ask as I think there is a curve of track to just avoid Didcot Parkway?

Banbury to Reading is mapped on map SM per the Yellow Pages.
Map SM shows a route via Didcot, thus via Didcot is a permitted route.

This specific ticket doesn't forbid Break of Journey. Therefore you can break your journey at any station on a permitted route, including Didcot.

You will have change onto a train that actually stops there, but that is permitted as it continues along the same permitted route, as the ticket isn't restricted to a specific TOC

For fares and routeing matters, the line is considered to be going via Didcot irrespective of whether or not there is a platform face on the lines taken by the train you are traveling on.

That's not true - for most of the day there are four trains per hour non-stop from Oxford to Reading: 2 CrossCountry and 2 GWR, and all of them use the Didcot avoiding line.

That is actually a reasonable question to ask, but as yorkie says above, according to all the official station lists provided by ATOC for journey planning and routeing purposes, any train that traverses either Didcot North Junction or Didcot East Junction is considered as passing Didcot Parkway station. The station is unquestionably on a permitted route from Oxford to Reading. It's also a permitted route to go via the Didcot West Curve and reverse at Foxhall Junction, passing through Didcot Parkway on the Main Line platforms (there's one CrossCountry train a day that does this, in the Reading to Oxford direction).

Thanks for the replies confirming this was ok. Went well - though ticket barrier checks did take a little longer on all tickets used today (The Banbury - Reading and even the Thames Branch Day Ranger (which I didn't mention))!
