Imagine if c2c made those services

Imagine if there was a 2tph c2c service from
London Liverpool Street to Pitsea. calling atstart to end)
Stratford
Woodgrange Park
Barking
(Any Station with platforms on mainline)
Upminster
West Horndon
Laindon
Basildon and Pitsea.

Frequency 2tph additional coaches on peak

Not sure there's much demand to get to Stratford or Liv St instead of West Ham or Fen St.

I do think there must be demand for something from c2c-land to go down Crossrail, but that ship has presumably long since sailed.

Either way, anything that has to cross Forest Gate junction will foul up the existing GE metro service. Obviously if you did go ahead and do it you'd timetable it so c2c trains crossed that junction in both directions at the same time. Which would make keeping to time rather crucial.

I have sometimes pondered that a mornings only peak c2c-Crossrail service might work. So only a left turn onto the GE slow, minimising disruption. By the time the return service got back to Forest Gate it'd be after the peak and the right turn might not be so disruptive. Of course only Crossrail units can go through the core and I don't imagine there's much enthusiasm from anyone to run them to Southend.

It would be nice if the current C2C services to and from London Liverpool Street would call additionally at Maryland / Forest Gate / Woodgrange Park as well.

Delete the idea, or the thread, or both

Lets just say if it was a good idea, it would already be happening. It does to a certain extent at weekends, but you've no chance during the peak.

Err, Westfield Shopping Centre at Stratford?, which is why c2c run to Liverpool St at weekends now.

Well you can't always say that. There weren't any direct services from London to Shrewsbury for about 23 years (save for a brief Virgin service in the early 2000s) but they were reintroduced in 2014 and are doing well.
