Hello, do you know if it can take a while to find out if you have been successful at interview with Network Rail?

I'm just wondering as I have an interview next week for a post, I have a interview for another job (not Network Rail) the day after so I'm wondering what happens if I'm offered the other job before I haven't heard back from Network Rail. Hopefully they'll be happy to wait if NR can take a while... I'm getting ahead of myself really...

There's no reason why you shouldn't find out quickly, as long as they're doing all the interviews on the same day. At the end of the interview you'll be given a chance to give the panel any info you think they need to know and ask any questions you have. That would be the time to explain your situation and ask when you'll find out. They'll understand that people might have other job offers to consider.

Also if anyone has any tips for Signaller interviews. Non Technical Skills, I'm studying those. I'm very much used to competency based interviews so the questions that I think I'll find the hardest are things like "What do you know about Network Rail?"
I imagine it's best to not just sound like you've just trawled Wikipaedia for NR facts.

Well, what do you know about Network Rail? What do you know about the job? Run it past us here first!

It's permanent depending what link you are on. Ours is7 to 7. Works out OK for my travelling and days off!

Knowing what I know, most of the interviews won't be on the same day, they very rarely are! Even more so if internal candidates are involved. I've waited 3 months to hear back before because another signaller could not be released for 3 months to attend his interview!

But fingers crossed it is quick. The wait is antagonising, I remember it all to well!! Every time the phone buzzed I panicked in case it was 'the call'

It must be different in different parts of the company then, because where I am they always set aside one day to do all the interviews. If you can't make it then tough!

As far as I know there are 4 posts so I imagine there are quite a few interviews over several days.

Any idea how many people approx should be short listed for 4 posts? 20?

Currently going through the application process with NR. I done the online based tests (SJT) and had test complete next to my application, received the success of email but now have gone back to 'Application under consideration' can anybody shed any light? I have another application and this still says 'test complete'

Afternoon Tony,

It'll likely stay that way for a while, I think it took me around 6 weeks from completing my SJT to getting invited to an assessment, and then another 4 weeks or so from then to get invited to an interview. Patience is key mate, speaking from my own personal experience I'd say you're likely to hear from them over the phone before the website is updated.

Bit quiet on the job front with signalling roles. Without going into too much detail (as I understand it's not meant for external broadcast) but are there, or have there recently been, many vacancies for signallers on the internal board?

Once you take the test at the assesment day, are you able to find out those scores - and what grade signal box you have passed too? Or is it all kept secret like the SJT tests?

Its not routinely handed out. Some people in the past have been told, most aren't.

You don't "pass" to a certain grade now. You either pass or fail it. The highest scores go to interview pretty much simple as that. If you've passed, the scores can be used for any grade

I've made a few of my own tests but wondered if any of you know any sites with tests that match those at the assessment day? Don't mind if I have to pay for them - just something to help me out.

Not that i've ever seen... maybe use what you've been given to make you own?

To be honest, you shouldn't really struggle on the assessment day! It's not rocket science!

Formal offer in progress means you've got the job, that's exactly what I recieved a few months ago before receiving the written offer.

Hope you're all well. Quick query, I have applied for numerous signalling roles - and thus far been successful with each application, to the point where I am waiting to attend the assessment day in December. Should I do well here, and more than 1 of the positions would like to interview me/offer a job...is it then down to me to decide or do network rail intervene and tell you where you have to go?
Just curious to see if anyone has any insight on the process?

I was offered 3 signaller roles within days of each other from 3 different interviews... and it was completely up to me which one I chose.
