Sadly the things are actually very hard on maintenance, plus the overhauls they had recently weren't really up to scratch.
Someone else can probably shed a lot more light unto the matter though.

You think they are maintained at all !?!?!

B
But without sounding rude don't you get fed up of class 37's?????
I mean have you every dare I say it gone after some spoon bashing???
Yes, he loves spoons. Made a big trip to Anglia for 8xx the other week so clearly a big spoon ned.

I'm not one for hanging around with a camera much anymore with little of interest turning up, always preferred to be on the train but can;t be on everything so don't mind popping out for ten minutes to phot 4O90, some 5Zbizarre or whatever but hanging around for hours on the off chance something interesting might turn up or just for sheds or similar bores me silly.

I knew you would be along as soon as i read that post by 'Phoenix', yes I did have 47818 in Anglia the other week but it was mainly because Potter & Ferret wanted to do it and as the skoda in front arrived at Diss we could see 37087 approaching on the RHTT so wanted another phot of that, afterall the choice was a duff or skoda so in the grand scheme of things both rancid, and i don't need any, had all my VWC skodas on the West Coast, and 818 is dud as well, was a common XC one so no challenge! So no I don't like spoons!

Couldn't resist a booked appearance

Still maintain you should have done the 321s vice both 47s and 90s!!

We did do the 321's on the major mileage move from Diss to Norwich. Anyway arn't 321's a regular stand in down that way when the skodas go pop, the 156 was bigger on the Norwich - London was rarer except it was being caped and not going through!

Well the 311,312 have decided to go back home for Christmas to the Nene valley so will have a little bit of a trip to do before the 29th.
Makes me laugh how one day their working their butts off hauling heavy beastly metal.
The next day they turn into pres machines pulling Fen people in Auschwitz carriages.

Anyone confirm this tour as x2 37 again please? I notice pathfinders site is down this evening.

Steve

I hope its still a grid, i'm busy on the 29th now, made other plans since the power was changed. I seriously doubt it anyway, EWS currently only have 401 active as 417 put its con rod through its engine, now have 23 on hire and both are in Scotland waiting for the white stuff.

Of note the West Ruislip - Carlisle booked for next April and due to feature some yellow 97's forward from Crewe to the border city and back has now had its motive power changed, you still get your shed from down south but its 40145 forward from Crewe and over the Slow & Crap.

Doesn't mean you won't get a chance for yellow haulage next year...;)

56s have been unreliable since they were built, and any rebuild done now, (3xx series) tend to break down easily. All the Hanson Traction 56s are back on base now, 312 was running all day in preparation for travelling down the Fletton Loop tomorrow morning back onto NR metals. Not quite sure what's wrong with 311, and 128 has no engine, roof etc as its still being overhauled.

Yes, 311 is grey, unnamed with black cab surrounds and a Colas Rail transfer under the secondmans cab window.

312 is purple, with lime green lettering 'Artemis', yellow reshaped cabs and Colas Rail transfers.

312 was certainly gassing out the yard this morning when she started for a good half hour!!

Yes they are actually, the Hanson ones with a highly skilled team.

Have you ever seen inside a 56? Then you'll know what a complete b*sterd they are to work in, and how little space there actually is.

Also, the electronics and wiring are very complicated and are not necessarily correct, such as with the parking brake: Cables A & B (for example) could be A on A and B on B at No.1 end, but A on B and B on A at the other.

The words "Highly Skilled" and "Derby Carpenters" and "Class 56" do not go. No idea why you are wibbling about Hanson fitters in response to my post about DF.

Looking forward to 003 on Monday, well overdue some mainline grid, and romanian to boot :D

the ECS for the tour (riviera I assume) just passed St Albans.

The diagram from Bescot to Derby will still be 0Z36 on monday, meaning the tour's HC will be 1Z36. Ta Mike parsons for the gen

It's 1Z37 & 1Z38 which is a regular code for a 37 tour (or sometimes 1Z37/1Z74) and is presumably being used as 37's were the original motive power and on the original request to NR.

Is this still expected to come through Shrewsbury around 9:55?

If so, running behind it will be a WSMR train between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury. Good opportunity for some snaps at Salop.

<D They arent pres machines! They dont pull any of the coaching stock at NVR, they just sit in the shed having a little rest, and obviously being maintained. They only pull trains here at diesel galas when they have free use.

I like that 'auschwitz carraiges' comment

Get the Kreigslok out and a couple of cattle wagons and im sure we could have a great 1940's weekend!

Just hope the grid doesn't suffer any wheelflats tomorrow, otherwise it'll be game over until a new set of wheels can be procured...as I'm sure FusionRail will be well aware being the chief engineer for the fleet.

Wonder if 56128 will be getting new wheels as part of its 'overhaul', just like 057/003 did...:?:

Hope the tour goes well for all of you on it. I'd love to be there, sadly there is absolutely no chance for that. Uber-epic fail...:(

EDIT: Since Christmas is just about gone, I'm only just in time to use this:

Oh no it isn't!

Uber-massive change of heart and plans, I'm skipping out of the housework and going to pop up for this one! :o

Dave, if you're out for the phot I'm planning to arrive around 0855 or 0915 (whichever train the bus connects into from Hereford in the end). I'll PM you my mobile number, as I'm going offline so can't discuss it further on here/MSN now.

See you all tomorrow! :D

Enjoy the grid, although spare a thought for those of us who suffered two pairs of nosepeds when we were promised a 56...
