If you say so, although I think class and the politics of envy is mainly and obsession of the left wing. Where as if someone up the road has a large house and a couple of Rolls Royce's parked outside I don't really care good for them, as long as I can have a reasonable standard of living and we enable the poorest in society to have a reasonable standard of living that's all I'm interested in.

Who do you know that is obsessed with envy? Dismissing people talking about injustice as "envious" is just insulting. The right-wing press has been obsessed with benefits this, scroungers that, which strikes me as envious more than anything else: "why should they get that when I don't?". Their obsession with the so-called politics of envy is obvious psychological projection - they assume that everyone talking about injustice has the same selfish motivations that they do.

I also think this is a complete contradiction with what you said earlier. You were just saying that class has disappeared and it's now the "well off versus the rest of us", which frankly stinks of jealousy. Yet now you're saying you don't much care if the person up the road has a Rolls Royce. They're certainly not on less than 4 times the average income. So is it the case that you're allowed to be envious, but the left are just doing it from a place of selfishness? Your favourite word comes to mind to be honest: hypocrisy.
