I can't help with where they are now, but be assured that 170 403 is alive and well; it was on Edinburgh - Glasgow shuttles all day on Monday ( 12th ). So it is around.

Cheers, I'm hoping it's the 20:41 from queen street to Aberdeen. Passed a saltaire liveried one with small lights earlier which if I've worked it out right will form that and I've already sen 401/2/4/5/12/15/70 and 71 today so it's that with any luck. We shall see! Last 170 for haulage so I hope so.

Most MPVs are DR, and start with 98 , some with 97.

What you might have seen would be DR98976? In which case it would have been with DR98926 as MPVs master and slave have a difference of 50 in the last two digits
