Oh dear!!

I was rather surprised that it was only 34 services XC operated through Leeds!!


Are we all such good train people, it hasn't ever happened? Or is it the total opposite, and because you think you know so much about trains you missed the obvious and left behind a load of stuff???
So, whats the strangest, or kind of stuff you left on a train?

It think my camera was the stupidest thing i have left on a train, but fortunately I realised, ran back and the guard let me back on to grab it

Barely a day goes by without someone asking me to see if someone has found their phone/laptop/bicycle (hock/random other tat further up the line. Rarely is the answer yes (except with the bicycle)

Even has 1 lady about a month ago who had travelled from Bristol, changing at Gloucester, Birmingham New Street and Crewe, asking if we could phone up as she had left £27,000 worth of diamonds "somewhere". Cue phone calls to Bristol Temple Meads, Gloucester, Birmingham New Street and Crewe, but nope, nothing. Rumour has it the duty manager at Gloucester has a new Mercedes though

I've left a coat behind on a train (didn't normally wear it, rush to make a 2 minute connection at New Street, it became the casualty).

Found various things from cameras, to coats, to wallets, to phones, to credit cards, to handbags, tripods, umbrellas, walking sticks, monopods, and the odd child!

I left a hard hat on a Xc Notts-Cardiff service cost me about 20 quid aswell but Im sure a welshman could use a hard had for some good.

If the duty manager at Gloucester has a new Mercedes he'll have paid for it with his redundancy money as one of the first things FGW did when taking over from Wessex was to try and get rid of anyone with any railway experience - the D.M.s were disposed of in March 2007.

I left my camera on a shuttle at Merehead earlier this year - realised 2 minutes later and rushed back to the train and where I was sat to find it had gone! Luckily, it was a member of staff who had discovered it, and I found him on his way through the next coach. Coincidentally, I recognised the staff member as the former BRB senior manager who has the same name as me, who I first met around 20 years ago - so we ended up having a chat for a few minutes.

My brother once left his coat on a train while we were on a North West Day Ranger - it was retrieved from the luggage rack later in the day!

Most recently I left my bag (intentionally) on a tram in Blackpool while I went for a picture. Trouble was, it set off before I got back on! A phone call to my travelling companions, and the bag was looked after for an hour or so till I got back on.

I'm good at losing things

One of my phones once stayed on 87009 for mileage to Glasgow. Being on an East Mids I however leapt off at Lichfield to have 87013 home, never saw it again but I only ever get cheap phones for that reason

Another stayed on 002 to Euston after I leapt at M.Keynes, thankfully it came back out of Euston and was duly reclaimed at Cov later in the move!!

Worst thing i've left behind is a two week ALR!!!!!

was at BNS, got of the voyager and went to see where i put it, realised its not in my pockets, ran back on the train, found the seat i was at and there was my ticket wallet with the ALR in, was about to get off but the doors closed Had to go to Wolverhampton so stuffed up my plans but at least the ticket was valid anyway lol!

I've never run into trouble when accidentally travelling beyond the validity of my ticket before. 8)

Ye may remember that not long ago I fell asleep on a WAT>BAS service. I'd intended to alight at Farnborough, but falling asleep just past Woking put paid to that plan and I wound up in Basingstoke. hock:
The station staff however were very helpful - No excess charges or penalty fares in sight, no extra tickets needed, and they didn't have a problem with me leaving the station so I could get a smoke break during the 55 minute wait for the next service back! 8)

I bet they couldn't beat LuL's lost-property office in Baker Street though.

From what I recall, LuL have had literally all manner of things found on their trains - Not just the usual £1,500+ laptops and mobile phones etc...Their list IIRC includes false teeth, grandfather clocks, a Leopard (Live! hock and about 92 years ago I myself somehow (Only the Gods know how!) managed to misplace a six-foot casket complete with corpse whilst using the Metropolitain line! hock:
