Bob Dylan again, from the seminal 'Highway 61 Revisited' album:-

song title is It Takes A Lot to Laugh, It Takes A Train to Cry

The last two lines are
Don't Say I Never Warned You
When Your Train Gets Lost

Apologies if this has already been posted:
Nancy Whiskey "Freight train, freight train, going so fast (because there are no passenger trains in the way!)"

The commuters' song (with apologies to Gloria Gaynor)

At first, I was delayed
I was left behind
Kept thinking I couldn't commute however hard I tried
But then I spent so many nights
On the benches at Epsom
Became less strong
And learned how you can't get along

And so I'm at
Crystal Palace
My train stopped and we were turfed off miles away from the right place
I should have travelled there by bus,
I should have travelled there by plane,
And I would have murdered someone to get off this Southern train

So Go-Ahead, and shut the door
Kick off the guards now, for you don't need them anymore
When the DfT gave the Southern franchise to Govia
Did they know you'd crumble,
Did they think we'd all end up here?

But I'll defy
I will survive
Oh, as long as we're protesting, there's a chance to stay alive
We've all lost the will to live
We've got nothing left to give
But we'll survive
We will survive

Hey, hey
We will survive
Through the delays and cancellations, our campaigning will be live
Though your services you've skipped,
GTR can still be stripped
Of the franchise
So we'll survive
We will survive

:) That must've took a while.

Indeed. Pitifully long considering how most of the lyrics don't scan. :lol:

Can't think how this one escaped me;-

Days of Purley Spencer

Days of Pearly Spencer by David McWilliam must have been the second most-played record on the original (and best, overall, imo) pirate radio station Caroline. 'Caroline' by the Fortunes was the most-played by a country mile, but the radio station's owner Ronan O'Rahilly got it into his head that he could be the new Brian Epstein and McWilliam was to be his Billy J Kramer, if not John Lennon. I guess the record was played more times than total copies sold. McWilliam, an Irishman like O'Rahilly, faded without trace.

There's also a song that has a verse 'open up them Purley gates and I'll go chasing women' whose name escapes me.

A cracking good song though. Often put it on the juke box.

Status Quo have a song called, Calling the Shots. Perhaps the Department for Transport could do a cover of it!

Dave Stewart had a song on his 2012 album, Ring Master General, called Story of Secess. Well GTR would have to call it:
Story of Failure.

Some more off the album:
* Slow motion delays no X (where X equals infinity remix).
* Drowning in delays.
* You Took my Evening
* I Got Delays
* Just Another Delay

Chorus
Just another delay, baby,
On the way back home.
Another lack of staff, baby,
Well I guess I should have known
We could have been on time, baby,
If it wasn't for GTR, grone
Just another delay baby
On my way back home.
