I've been on this forum for a good few years now after moving over from the now defunct Northern Railways forum. I'm not a trainspotter (or rail enthusiast as I believe to be the correct term these days), but I do have a genuine interest in the rail industry as a passenger.

Over the years I have learned so much from so many of you, far more than I've ever learned from any of the magazines on sale. I get various viewpoints and on occasion answers to my questions that I wouldn't get elsewhere. For example, whilst planning my ALR trip it is thanks to some of you that I was able to go to Mallaig safe in the knowledge that my short connection time in Fort William on the way back, with the Sleeper would be guaranteed. Caledonian Sleeper Customer Services didn't provide the knowledge that some of you did.

You don't always agree with my comments (I'm looking at you DarloRich) but that's fine and part and parcel of being on a forum. However, I'm the same, I'll often disagree with some of you. I also agree with a lot of what is said by a lot of you (even you DarloRich).

All in all this forum is great and long may the discussion continue, but thank you to all of you for making this an informative and thought provoking place to frequent.

Are you leaving? (:p JK) I've only been on this forum less than a month but I liked this post you've left and also your others, the ones about litter and rubbish.

Shall your legacy continue to thrive! :D

That is good, anti-pacer - when people type something that we assume they have little time on this Earth... I have to say that you do tend to be one of the more nicer people on here, so glad you are sticking around. Now, to get you back to your argumentative, moody and cranky self, in honour of your user name, i have attached a picture for you

The world would be a hell of a boring place if we all agreed. Long may the disagreements continue along with the helpful advice.

Its no problem at all. There are some on here I can not stand, but I find you have a belief and stick to it... I may not agree with that belief, but I can respect the dignity behind it

Anti-pacer, I was also a member on the, as mentioned, defunct Northern Railways forum.

The spirit of it in some way continues on here, even down to advice on planning for ALRR's or various day trips - this has come in handy when I've gone and done an ALRR myself a fortnight back. I may not always post but I do read what is posted by others.

Completely agree mate, different opinions are what makes the forum more interesting. Long may it continue!

Disagreement need not lead to discord ; personally, I'd not be happy if someone agreed with all my views. After all, my experience of the world thus far has been different from anyone else's, and that is something all of us can say. My experiences have led to my views, with a bit of genetics thrown in, and they are neither 'right' nor 'wrong', just how I perceive things. If only some of those aiming to mould the world in their own image were able to adopt a less rigid way of thinking.

Very well said. We don't all experience the world the same way. It would be fascinating to experience it as someone else for a while. We all have millions of tiny things that have happened to make us who we are. It is good when someone disagrees with you to take a step back and think about it. I love you all, everyone has their own little thing they bring to the party. It is good to talk as Bob Hoskins once said. Ha ha. :D
