Either it's like an outboundary London Travelcard and you can't, or it's like a West Midlands Daytripper with extensions and you can. If we don't know, the people checking tickets probably won't either.

It doesn't really say that you can... but then it definitely doesn't say that you can't - and the rest of the ticket's validity is very clearly 're-useable' in this way. So it's not at all an unreasonable assumption unless someone has solid evidence to the contrary. I would be very surprised if you found someone who wasn't happy with you doing this (and perhaps more to the point who even realised it).

The entry for the Wayfarer on www.railrover.org says:

A separate ticket is also available from Nottingham and Beeston which includes one return journey from these stations to either Long Eaton or Langley Mill.

If that is correct, the answer to the OP's original question is "No".

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
The text on the Derbyshire CC website says:

Nottingham and Beeston stations sell special Derbyshire Wayfarer tickets which also include rail travel from those stations to Long Eaton or Langley Mill. These tickets are priced at £17 (adult) and £8.50 (concessionary). Group tickets are not available from these stations.

Which is broadly similar to the National Rail Enquiries website:

I guess there is no real way of knowing then. Thanks for the responses. I have decided to include Nottingham, Beeston and Attenborough as 'rover stations' in my rover calculator as, given the requriement to purchase the ticket from Nottingham or Beeston, the likelihood of a journey plan including more than a return journey (with or without break of journey) between Nottingham and Derby is very, very slim and its near impossible for a ticket examiner to know anyway.
