If you have the time at New Brighton station, walk through the building to the platforms and turn left. There is an information board (NOT Merseyrail branded) with a map of local amenities. Look at the legend and you will see that instead of Disabled or Accessible toilets, the word 'Invalid' is used.
I was thinking on my journey home about whether the word 'Invalid' is appropriate as I've never heard of disabled people be described in this way ever. I was a bit shocked tbh.
Have you ever seen this word crop up on the rail network elsewhere?
How long has it been since disabled/accessible toilets were referred to as such?
When did the word 'Invalid' fall out of fashion?
