My favourite is London Midland's; it can turn something from a dingy looking 321 into a modern looking 321!

My least favourite liveries are multi coloured ones; One's old livery is one of them.

That 'star' livery applied on FNW 142's is pretty disgusting and nasty.

EDIT: Current liveries I detest has to be that Arriva Train Wales; makes me think of vomit. It looks good on a 175 however.

My favourite current livery is Scotrail Saltire: simple, easy to keep clean, and has a connection with the place served.
Least favourite is any corporate livery especially the various FirstGroup ones. The TPE versions (185 and especially 350) are the worst of the worst. That said, I quite like how SWT have different base colours for long-distance; commuter; and "metro" services.

Discontinued liveries, best would be GNER, worst has to be ONE.

I love the orange and black on the colas 47s. I also like GBRfs many shed liveries.
I don't think I have a worst livery, however it p****** me off when I pull into Newhaven day aggregates every morning and see the occasional red 59 livery as I know I've seen all 59/2s.

best current livery is probably GWR's new livery
worst would probably be Thameslinks plane white with light blue doors (looks ok brand new but when ones looking like it needs a wash they look proper grubby)

Best livery from the past would be the intercity swallow livery as it reminds me of when I was younger travelling up to Newcastle fro the midlands

I'll second the Scotrail Saltire livery. I'm also a big fan of the green FGW livery and I don't mind the SPT blood and custard one although that'll soon be gone. I don't have a least favourite livery per se, but I find the Northern one a bit bland.

Favourites: InterCity Swallow, Great Western 'Fag Packet', First Great Eastern (green, blue, grey and white), Strathclyde PTE (orange and black), new GWR, Silverlink, ScotRail Saltire and good old BR rail blue and grey.

Least favourites: New TPE (horrific), Northern Rail, SPT (carmine and cream), Merseyrail 2003 (grey and yellow) and Connex (original yellow and white).

FGW Dynamic & Local lines get my vote, and the new GWR livery is nice too.

I like SWT's too, simple but effective.

Favourite: those with a nod to the past (GWR, Southern)
Least favourite (historical): the 'TPE lower half overlaid on Northern Spirit' (but I acknowledge that was just temporary and not intended as a proper full livery).
Least favourite (current): VTEC and VTWC. They just look cheap to me, for some reason.

To me, it all depends on the design of loco or coach carrying a livery. In addition, most liveries look better when freshly applied - dirty or faded colours spoil the "image".

Current favourite - probably East Midlands as applied to Class 158.
No single "worst" current livery (apart from some "advertising" liveries, most of which tend to look yukky, the sole exception being the "Beatles" livery on 508.111)
.

All time UK livery - for coaches, BR carmine & cream (sometimes described as plum & spilt milk)

For locos - lined green on steam (although lined red also looked OK on Duchesses); for diesels 47-style two-tone green.

All time worst - BR plain all-over blue. Boring & unimaginative, fades too soon. (Just as bad as NBC all-over green or "off-red" for buses.)

Favorite livery (current): Scotrail Saltire, Colas, South West Trains, East Midlands Trains & Grand Central.

Favorite livery (defunct): Loadhaul, GNER (particularly on the Eurostars), Intercity Swallow, SPT Carmine & Cream (specifically the versions found on the 170s & 334s) & FGW 'Fag Packet'.

The only current livery that I don't really like the look of is the current VTEC colors. Just looks and feels cheap to me.

Northern rail's purple, as worn by their sprinters/ express sprinters and pacers is pretty poor and I don't like VTECs either, although the HSTs look a bit better in it. Dynamic lines is alright. GNER livery was just OK, the old tangerine and green midland mainline livery was crap, as was One's.

As for favorites, I'd say London midland, ATW wag, Scotrail saltire and GWR Green. However, none of these beat the old BR blue and Grey and intercity executive/ swallow liveries. This last livery looks excellent on class 47s, as does BR green.

I also like DBs, Freightliner's, GBRf's and DRS's latest liveries.

Grand Central wins hands down, especially on HSTs, it just looks majestic. The new GWR livery follows closely, and then Scotrail Saltire I think.

The new GWR makes even 150`s look smart. A good call there. I also like the original HST intercity 125 livery Brings back so many fond memories and quite like ATW.. Hated network southeast and old grey East coast. Thank god for Virgin here.

Current favourite and definitely most improved is the South Eastern Class 375 livery. With special mention to the GWR livery and Chiltern Railway's Mainline grey livery. Out of the now defunct liveries, I was quite partial to the Great Western fag packet.

Least favourite is hard to narrow down, Northern's inconsistent mishmash of colours and swoops, Abellio Greater Anglia's snoozefest and Thameslink/Great Northern's temporary-but-probably-permanent looking livery are down there.

Big thumbs up for GWR and London Overground. Southern is ok too.

ATW has to be the worst, horrible colour, as is London Midland.

Also not fussed on SPT burgundy and cream.

Favourite: Scotrail
Least favourite: The SPT 'blood and custard'. Given the Scottish Government controls the ScotRail livery, and has done so since 2008, I don't know why some of these trains have not been changed yet. Same goes for rolling stock still sporting a residual First Scotrail livery, albeit with the First branding removed.

Favorites:
1) Grand Central - reminds me of GNER and looks pleasant
2) London Midland - modern and unique. Isn't the usual copycat livery
3) London Underground - can't mess with a classic, which has been copied a lot. Shame that Crossrail trains won't follow the standard TfL look.

Least Favorites:
1) The new TPE - too much color and pizzazz.
2) Northern Rail - just looks dated and boring
3) Abellio Greater Anglia - still very much a hodgepodge of liveries. Voted because they don't really have a livery
4) SWT Red Livery - it hurts my eyes

It seems I'm in a minority as I actually rather like the new TPE livery, but then again anything would be an improvement on Dynamic Lines!

Connex had awful liveries. Never again. Begone!

Favourite historic livery is chocolate and cream. Favourite current one would be GWR's, hands down. GWR's corporate branding knocks everyone else into a cocked hat as far as I'm concerned.

Agree on Connex, but they didn't get anything right let alone liveries!

Lots of people raving about GWR green, for me it's too dark a shade of green- looks almost black in many photos. Not a fan of the weird matt-grey slash either.

I really used to like the National Power and the original Foster Yeoman livery on the 59's, both looked really smart, and the mainline blue on the 58's was good too, wasn't a fan of the midland main line or the national express livery's

GWR , Grand Central, GNER are all good liveries - common factors in those designs - they are a highlighted livery with a darker/ deeper colour as a base

Regional railways and NSE were a change from unrelieved rail blue

IC Exec and IC swallow are nice looking liveries but very much oftheir time as it can be argued is the original treatment of HST power cars ( the carriages being effectively the same livery as hauled IC stock of the time)
