Is the purported Housing Crisis largely a metropolitan problem that has been exaggerated to encompass the whole of the UK rather than London and the South East and a few other hotspots it actually exists within.
Are there areas of the Country where people in modestly paid occupations are still able to enter the market?
I believe the answer is yes based on anecdotal evidence from my own son.
He lives in the West Midlands with my ex-wife and has just purchased 2 Bedroom Flat with a separate Garage in Dudley for £76000. He works as a Postman earning around £10 per hour. He is only contracted to work 32 hours per week but managed to get a Mortgage from a mainstream lender which took account of the regular overtime he works, and at a reasonable rate.
He saved the deposit from his own income and utilised the Government Scheme where they paid a 25% Bonus to add to the amount he amassed. No bank of Mum and Dad required.
There must be thousands of other people in various areas of the UK doing the same. Property is still affordable in vast swathes of the Country. Why do we only ever hear about the oppressed prospective householders in London and the SE ?
Is the Housing Crisis a myth in most parts of the UK ?
