London Midland Only Fares

Is there a list of routes for which these exist?
In particular I would like Crewe to Harrow & Wealdstone.
I think I've found Rugby to H&W, and Crewe to Rugby.
But is there a LM off-peak (or super off-peak) return fare for the whole journey?
And how do I go about getting a web site to sell me such a fare?

You can check BRFares to see which tickets are available for a given journey. Here is your query which shows there is no LM only fare for this journey.

If such a fare did exist you can usually specify TOC in the options

There's about 9000 of them, and the fare list will be updated next month. I've attached what I think is a current list, anyway.

If you're looking for an off-peak ticket (rather than a super off peak one), a London Midland only travelcard from Crewe is cheaper than the split you suggested (in fact, it's only £2 more than the split with super off peak tickets), and would certainly allow you to end your journey in Harrow.

Splitting at Watford Junction instead of Rugby would cut the cost, of course, especially with Oyster/contactless.

Very useful. The list is just what I asked for. And the suggestion of a ticket to Watford Junction then using Oyster is what I'll try.

The travel card is clearly the best if coming back the same day - especially the family version, if I travel with my son.

Since 2007 both Word and Excel formats are zip formats. All OS's should be able to open zip files fine these days, what actual problem are you having?

I can't imagine why you'd have trouble opening zip files on a modern OS. Nonetheless I've reattached the file in plain text which Word should be able to handle - after all notepad can!

The only explanation I can think of is that Graham was using a mobile device to access the forum. Otherwise, I can't imagine what the problem is.

I am using Windows 10. The file does open fine on my phone which is a MS Windows phone. However on my laptop it is opening now on a .txt document. Earlier it was wanting me to upgrade my winzip software but I have now uninstalled that.

You can use any decompression software e.g. http://www.7-zip.org/ to open a compressed (e.g *.zip) file.

The text file then needs to be opened in a spreadsheet application.

Is the content of the file fully correct though? It is meant to be a list of flows with LM Only fares on right? Just a couple of examples:

LDN MIDLAND ONLY LIVERPOOL S PWAY ACTON BRIDGE

LDN MIDLAND ONLY LIVERPOOL S PWAY WINSFORD

LDN MIDLAND ONLY LIVERPOOL STATIONS RUNCORN

For the above LM is the fare setter yes, but they set the Any Permitted fares and there is no LM Only options.

Thanks for checking. Looking more closely at it, the reason why the first line (at least) came up is that they offered some weekend upgrade tickets. In that case, the tickets also had an end date listed for the tickets in May, and so were no longer available when the file I used was published.

Some other flows, such as Liverpool-Winsford, still have (rather expensive) weekend upgrade tickets listed. The route listed on the upgrade tickets is "any permitted", so it won't make the list even though it's only valid on London Midland.
