yep it is quite a bit of a climb!

I guess expectations are different from a few years ago. But pre Jubilee line, the old Underground ticket office can't have been much higher than the current one, and from there it was stairs/ inclines/ramps all the way to platform level.

I don't think it gets rebuilt to anything like the main concourse area. I believe Network Rail are using the area where the Dungeon was for retail 'back of house' purposes.

I've seen it argued somewhere that the Dungeon moved voluntarily, mainly because their owners wanted to consolidate at County Hall, and the station rebuild was just an opportune moment to leave. It may be that their entrance would have been temporarily hidden behind the Tooley St worksite hoardings that will divide the whole street lengthways, from August sometime, but I can't see any evidence that the interior area gets altered.

One of the planning drawings I have downloaded still shows an area labelled as London Dungeon in the final arrangement, with 'retail' in all the arches alongside Tooley St to the east of the Dungeon entrance.

Yes it is, I noticed in an photo taken from the Leadenhall Building a few days ago that the north end of the old footbridge was visible because the SER offices had shrunk. May not be down to ground level yet though.

Not down yet. Demolition underway. A load of scaffolding came out today, I'd say it's around halfway done.

The old SER office is about halfway down now. There were some nice pre-grouping features on the outside of that building- I wonder if any were saved or have been sold to architectural salvage firms?

I was passing through London Bridge the other evening and I found the signage to be less than helpful. I was trying to find the loos. In the area towards the tube entrance there was floor signage but as I started upstairs I'd never see that. I was told to take the escalator and almost went down the one to the Shard, until someone stopped me to ask where I was going. Good job they did.

Then after that I was looking for a cash machine. Again no helpful signage.

They also put up the Horsham train platform quite late, which I guess isn't helpful for you don't know which group of platforms it goes from. It actually left late but I assume they couldn't be certain of it doing that.

Why does the lift on Platform 11/12 (glimpsed through the window in the hoardings) have buttons for floors 0, 1 and 2? I thought they only went between street level and platform level... What's the third destination?!

I think there's a two storey building below the terminating platforms and within the south end of the concourse which contains the main ticket office on the ground level. There may be something upstairs including I think the station control room, which would be on a sort of middle level, but it might not necessarily be available to the public, it could be inhibited without a key.

I thought the bus station was completely redeveloped just a few years ago, in time for the Olympics?

It was but a number of routes were moved onto the bridge whilst all the various construction work was going on. I was wondering if it was stuck in the formation it is now or if some of them might make it back into the bus station again once 2018 arrives.

I have noticed that Hastings Line services diverted via Redhill will continue to terminate at London Bridge after Charing Cross services begin to call at London Bridge again. Is this because the connections between the Brighton Mainline and Charing Cross are not there anymore or is it a change of policy?

The final layout does not provide for timetabled services through New Cross Gate to Charing Cross, although there are various crossovers for use during emergency recovery and engineering works etc.

But I thought ex Southern route services to Charing Cross had been permanently binned from the Dec 2009 timetable for capacity reasons anyway?

Charing Cross to Hastings via Redhill and Tonbridge would run when there were railworks or disruption at Sevenoaks. A Southeastern service.

Not having the Charing Cross to Brighton Main Line connection must make it complicated, in the event of major disruption at Sevenoaks, to switch quickly from operating Charing Cross to Hastings via Sevenoaks services to operating London Bridge to Hastings via Redhill services.

So the hoardings on the platforms have been replaced by metal barriers that have reduced the width of the already dangerously narrow platforms by another foot. Beggars belief.

So Thameslink Programme publish this walking routes diagram for how the station will be arranged after the bank holiday. Interesting details I noticed are:

• Western Concourse open - but in peak only
• Pedestrianised Stainer Street open with exit to Tooley St - but AM peak only
• Hoarding line for next phases by escalators for P6/7
