It's also to do with the front-on view of them, they look like the cab windows are teddy bear ears.It's because of a comment that the old Swindon works foreman George Cole made about the class "We've built the Great Bear, now we're going to build a Teddy Bear!" and the great bear was a steam engine built for the GWR at Swindon works.
