Do VT still spot hire their 390s? I have seen a couple at Piccadilly which had been hired by Manchester United to transport their fan base back to their natural habitat after a visit to the cold north. They appeared on RTT as unadvertised express services, though in this case it is given far too long at Crewe to be of any use for something other than a test.

No idea what this is exactly but my best guess could be route learning with a 390 that is out of use today. Nice and quiet, nowhere near the demand for the 390's as a weekday or a Saturday so seems logical. Probably wrong though.

This runs quite often on Sundays. Best guess is route learning as it is only at Rugby for about 20 minutes then goes back to Edge Hill.
