Just seen this and got excited!

I had never noticed it before. The site says it is busy, so I can't get any details. Anyone done this before? I imagine that they are advance fares, but nonetheless a bargain.

If there's any info on these, would be good to know!

Edit: Found this. Which basically says that Virgin lied, and it was a sham. Damn!

I read about this a few days ago. Regardless of what Virgin are or are not doing, I don't have much faith in ticketing via mobile.

I'm not too sure how it works, but I have one of these 'smart' phones and it is always out of battery. I wouldn't trust it with anything.

Same here, always feels more comfortable to just have a proper ticket that causes little trouble. Surely it must be just as awkward for the conductors/platform staff to be presented with all these different sorts of 'ticket' combinations.

Bear in mind if you can't show the 'ticket' (or text ticket) on request, you are treated as not holding a ticket, so even if you receive the text ticket, if your battery dies on route you could be lumped with a substancial bill to pay!
