There is an interesting aerial view of the station and adjacent railway lines in 1946 at http://www.britainfromabove.org.uk/image/eaw000725 which clearly shows the railway level crossing. (This site is a wonderful source of pictures of long-closed lines - albeit the coverage can be rather patchy. To 'zoom in' to pictures you have to sign-up, but that costs nothing.)

Cheers, John. I've used BfA elsewhere on my site (there is a wonderful hi-res picture of Tewkesbury Junction that I bought for use on there). Thanks for the link, I enjoy incorporating those pictures into my work.
Great picture! Yes, I've been emailing with Ben Brooksbank, he's a wonderful chap with a wealth of pictures from Tewkesbury/Ashchurch. It was actually because of his lone picture of Malvern Hanley Road that I started my blog project, I wanted to find out more information about it!
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
