I've searched google's images for this, and most of them are a bit rubbish.

Where can I get a large scale image of Europe's railways, which I can zoom into with CTRL + or similar to see more detail?

Apologies if this has been asked before- I'm not really sure what to google.

The e-version of this atlas is very useful, particularly when you are travelling.
Unfortunately their web site seems to be being "reconstructed" this weekend.
http://www.europeanrailwayatlas.com/

Nothing beats the Schweers & Wall atlases for detail, for Germany, Austria,
Switzerland, Italy + Slovenia, and now part of France, but they are quite pricy (and getting more so as the £ dives).
They have some useful topographical detail (rivers, mountains, roads etc).

This site has some useful stuff: http://www.bueker.net/trainspotting/

You can usually find detailed route maps on the infrastructure company's web site (eg Infrabel for Belgium: http://www.infrabel.be/sites/defaul...schematische_netkaart-volledig-10459-01_3.pdf .

DB Netze has a digital interactive map which covers their entire network, and also shows all kinds of technical information about the infrastructure. It's a bit slow, but it's very complete. It's called STREDA.X.

A better map for Switzerland - and totally zoomable right up to maximum size is Schweiz Mobil/Suisse mobile/ Swiss Mobility:

https://map.schweizmobil.ch/?lang=en&bgLayer=pk&resolution=500&X=744000&Y=154000&layers=Train

The Swiss Mobility maps are based on the SwissTopo (ie the Swiss 'Ordnance Survey' ) maps which are available as pure maps at:

The largest scale available shows individual railway tracks - and is magnificent for large complexes such as Zurich Limmatal marshalling yard.
