It's the Daily Mail reporting a Sun story and they like Chris Evans.
If you're trying to say Chris Evans has done well you only have to look at the viewing figures.

The viewing figures are a bit of a red herring. It's been against the Euros. Top gear is one of the most watched shows on I player!

I say get rid of Evans and keep Matt, Rory and Harris. Lose Eddie and Sabine as well.

Nope. Top Gear was never about cars, they were a background, just as last of the summer wine was not about bathtubs.

I think you are referring to the post 2002 incarnation of Top Gear which was led by Andy Wilman. Try watching any of the episodes before then, which included things like Quentin Wilson reviewing pre-owned Nissan Sunnis or Jeremy Clarkson reviewing Ford Escorts. Trust me, Top Gear from 1977 to 2002 was completely about cars.

Gems include Clarkson talking about environmental impact of diesel cars, and about how great Volkswagen are with diesels and how environmentally sound they are.

I like them, straight-to-the-point information. Having said that, I also liked the Jezza and co. edition from 2002 onwards, albeit for different reasons.

I noticed BBC planned an A and B schedule for BBC2 yesterday. If they'd shown last night's football then Top Gear would have been on at 6:30pm and the film Catch Me If You Can would have been shown at the same time as the football.

The BBC has concluded the programme suffered because of Euro 2016, explaining why people like to watch football live. At the same time, surely many people like to watch non-sport on catch up, so surely fans would have watched the footie then Top Gear later or when repeated?

I just don't think he was the right fit. I get why they tried him, but he had the childishness but none of the charm of Clarkson. It's a shame, I wanted it to work out, but there we go.
