Well, that's not exactly what Samhain is all about now, is it? :razz:8)

Samhain - In it's original form - Is the annual Pagan festival held to both remember and celebrate those who are no longer with us. Yet unlike the usual Christian style Wake (Where everyone is normally quiet and in mourning at the passing of a specific friend/loved one) The festival of Samhain is a most joyous and happy time for us Heathens...For it is the festival in which the Spirits of our dearly departed are invited to come and share in our feasts and our merriment!
Samhain also marks the coming and welcoming of Winter, the departure and farewells to Autumn, and also the Pagan new year.

It's the invitation of departed Spirits unto the celebrations of Samhain that has led to the whole spooky feel and objects normally associated with the festival; Including Jack-o-lanterns, Witches and broomsticks, and trick-or-treating. 8)
(This spooky feel is often accentuated by the incorrect (And slanderous) assertion by certain sects of Christianity that Samhain is a satanic and "evil" event. )

Ahh...I was lucky here. One stink bomb loosed off at my front door, another two placed under the doormat (Which I spotted before stepping on it! :razz and that was it! 8)

I concur with me123 and Mintona, Halloween is a tad boring and pointless.

If I had my way, I'd be armed with a modified M16 that fires eggs and such like at high speed towards the little morons. At my side would be a big pile of flour bombs to throw at the same morons.

Thanks for explaining the religious side of it death, three of my managers had booked annual leave saying it was for religious reasons, but I had no idea what Samhain was about. We all just thought they were going around trick-or-treating... :P

i dont like halloween although my yonger sister and her freinds do.


one reason i dont like it is that little brats as i call them go out causing trouble, one freind who is still driving buses has said that they normally have a lot of damage done to their busses when passing through some of the housing estates in swansea.

persoannly i would like to run the little things over in a double decker but the law says i cant and then when you try to tell them off you get the parents yelling abuse at you as i found out to my cost two weeks ago in cardiff, which made me decide to quit driving buses.

That was the exact reason for them cutting off Blaen-y-Maes from route 25 (terminates at Caerithin Cross after 6pm or so) in Swansea. I am in little doubt it happens elsewhere on a widespread scale elsewhere in the city, but it was enough to stop First serving the morons. Good on First I say!

Sorry to hear you decided to quit driving buses as a result of these brats. You can't mow them down for obvious reasons, but even dare tell them off and you get heaven and earth come down on you for doing what should have been many times over, many years ago. You can't win with some people.
