The glass screens went at Piccadilly about 6-8 weeks ago now as part of the ticket barriers which are coming soon.

When you say screens, do you mean the doors? I know there were glass screens there only a week or so ago when I passed through with my Gran

Sounds like an excellent time in Mancc! Shame you couldn't get all of your required shacks but it'll give you another reason to get up to Mancc to get more trams in the book!

I see you got the best pendo from Crewe to Mancc (122). How was it?
Was plastform 6 at Piccadilly a required micro grice in the end?

I personally hate the new VT announcements but each to their own. I'm not 100% certain but I'm pretty sure that it's 390153 and not 053.

The glass being removed/that has been removed is in front of platforms 8/7 and 6/5, if memory serves, and is both the doors and the glass panels behind the concourse seating. This is to allow for ticket barriers to be installed for the VTWC services. The rest of the platforms and the glass at the ends remain untouched, as I don't think they are to be barriered

Going to upset you now. You could have had that Crewe-Manchester piece for around £6, and valid on any TOC. sorry!

Why is 122 the best one? That's 114...;) Not been upstairs to look at my Quails yet, I must look into it in the morning now. I only looked quickly at the number of the 390, didn't twig until I checked my NREA on the way south that it couldn't be 053, it had to be 153. I updated my other notes, but not that part of the trip report

I'm hoping to go again now in July, although two shack requirements will be closed due to the track renewal on the Eccles line (MediaCityUK and Salford Quays), so if I can get up there next Monday...

Really? How? PM if you can't share it publically. I reckon £5.40 each way for that Virgin Only fare was most reasonable!

You must be right, didn't notice the glass gone on the rest. Barriering platform 8 is all fine and good, for VTWC services, but ATW use platform 8 a lot more than Virgin do. Quite, XC use those middle platforms quite a lot too. Does this mean they're chipping in for the barriers too?

Your previous comment about it being cold there in winter is not wrong, it can be bad enough as it was!

Tech, that was a good day up in Manchester - you are definitely living up to your name as "Lord of the Tram". No doubt many of your winners were on Bus Stop Bashes but everyone to their own. And it won't be long before you can tick all the shacks off, I'm sure. But the trams themselves might take a little longer especially as there's still the last few still to be delivered.

As I understand it from postings over on SkyScraperCity (which I always take with a pinch of salt), TPE are chipping in for barriers to their most frequently used platforms (typically 1-4), so I assume XC and ATW are doing the same? The remaining platforms, predominantly the Northern ones, will be done as part of the works to create the new platforms 15/16.

It has also been noted that the glass panels have been removed to allow for the doors to be widened, and then replaced with barriers. Once the barriers are in place the glass walls will be reinstated, so it won't be too bad. Hopefully!

Thanks KJ, that comment really had me smiling! I'm sure the nationwide obsession amongst bashers will eventually wear off, perhaps until 2018 when the 68s start with TPX?

3114 was definitely more than a Bus Stop Bash, although probably 4 miles or less. 3110 or 3072 were originally scored with BSBs but had their mileage topped up by a fair amount later on. My RM update is due this weekend, so I'll know for sure by Monday what's on what.

Aye it'll take a while to get them all done, but at least I only need 33 of them now. A few months ago I needed a whopping 77 of them!

Because of the name...

You need Media City?! How did you get the track both from the Eccles direction and from the city centre direction?

I think the cranks will be lined up ten deep once the Cats start on transpennine!

As for Metrolink requirements, I reckon that I'm after about 63 runners working on the basis that 3115-3120 have yet to enter traffic or indeed be delivered to Manchester. But if all goes to plan, that number will see a significant reduction before June is out. As for shacks & nutrax, they'll have to wait for a rainy day.

No chance am I doing the shacks on a rainy day! ;)

Aye my 33 requirements do include 6 of them to be delivered/enter service, so only 27 runners left. Some of them at least were noted out during the day, let alone the evening peak. I will get them eventually...

Correct, never alighted! Well, I was going to get it when I was up there the time before last, then changed my mind as it was late on a Sunday night and wanted to make sure I got to base camp!

I've had a shack that you haven't on the Metrolink then! I forgot that they now reverse at Media City to go to Eccles. I had it when they terminated at Media City and then reversed to go back towards the city centre.

Same here, during the evening when it was Eccles trams going direct with mediacity uk trams terminating there before heading to the city, hence why I still need that side of the triangle from mediacity towards Eccles

Ah, well that kept me entertained during a fester at Watford Junction this evening!

Looking forward to reading your report of clearing the tram shacks later this year ;)

Such a dud piece of track ;)

Glad you enjoyed the read Kris, I'm currently looking at a Metrolink bash again when St Peters Square reopens in late August. Or when Second City Crossing opens, although I have no idea when that's due to be honest!

I've got a friend's birthday bash to attend on Tuesday after work (oh won't next Wednesday be fun then...) so no bashing on Monday unfortunately. Might be difficult to find a way to blag my way out of that...

Strangely enough, I had 390153 from Piccadilly to Crewe yesterday on exactly the same service!

I've only done five of the M5000s, so I need well over 100 of them and I've not covered very much of the route network either. Thankfully, one tram network I have managed to do well on for both haulage and coverage is the Sheffield Supertram, finally managing to get the elusive 116 and complete the network for haulage last time I was in Sheffield.

I've completed the Npttingham Express Transit network for coverage, but I still need quite a few trams for haulage. I can't remember how much of the Blackpool Tramway I've done unfortunately, so I've decided to start again on that network just to be sure. I haven't been on it since the Flexity 2s arrived, that's the one thing about it I am sure of.

Maybe we should all chip in and buy FQ a tablet so he can get online more easily and catch up with trip reports faster!
It's been finding the time this week with 3 exams (all of which are now over thankfully) and a trip to Mancc.

All of Blackpool's lot is thankfully done, bar tram 005. Not bothered about the old trams to be honest!

Supertram is all covered trackwise (as is all of the UK light rail network), still several trams and tons of shacks to get scored. They are on the list to be done, might have to put that off until 2017 though. Hoping to clear all the Metrolink shacks this year and get my last 5 Midland Metro trams in too. Croydon trams I need too many of for my liking, same for the shacks there. Hoping to deal with some of that later this year...

Glad to hear the exams are over, and going by your post on Red Pen 2016 you had a good trip in Manc so I'm looking forward to hearing about it!
