Local media did not state what sort of weapon or munition was involved but did state that it was believed to be a WW2 relic, possibly dug up by animals.

Whilst it is well to be cautious in such cases, a war relic is of much less concern than a modern terrorist weapon.

A normal service is expected today.

Very good gents but I doubt that you would be pleased if you spent over four hours on a train and did not get to your destination.

i'd rather spend 4 hours on a train and get to my destination than a journey of 4 hours and 2 minutes that ended in me jumping up 200 feet into the air and scattering myself over a wide area.

yes it is frustrating but surely better that than blowing everyone up?

If it's a steam train I wouldn't mind. Wonder how one might keep up the steam in such a case? I don't know if you were stuck on a steam train of course.

There's a pint for anyone who can make a satisfactory pun out of Bishop's Lydeard... ;)

Isn't that the place that has been sponsored by a 70's rock band from America? As I understand it, part of the deal means it is now known as Bishop's Lydeard Skynyrd

I'm not sure that quite makes the grade, but given your location and mine I feel it's safe for me to offer the prize...!

I think my late entry may just take home the christmas turkey

I'm going to Somerset to see a clergyman with a part-time business collecting and recycling metal tops from jam jars. He has a huge collection in the open air.

Bishop's Lid Yard?

No, I think it's in Bath........
