The retro power car was on the country end today which was a surprise when I went out to take a picture of it. I'm sure it was on the London end when I saw it previously, but I could be mistaken on that.

It was on the London end yes

Hi all!

Anyone know the diagrams for 43002 tomorrow? Out and about in the west country so wondered if I might see it!

Thanks.

As always, sets are allocated to diagrams overnight - usually between 0200 (when Integrale restarts/rebuilds for the following day) and 0530 (when the DCM publishes the service startup report to the exec).

It's on a high-density set at the moment, so is more likely to appear on Bristol/Cardiff/Cheltenham/Oxford trains than Cornwall/Swansea services.

Obligatory copy and paste from my post 5 above this one....

You're never going to know before the morning of the day you're asking for, as that is when the decision is made.

All depends if the 125 group get hold of a set. They hold a pool of Valenta engines and Marston cooler groups.

Hopefully, need some sets to come off lease first and that assumes no one else snaps them up due to electrification delays etc (thinking we'll see 43002 running about in that livery for a while yet!). In the meantime, plenty to do with 41001 ;)

Are we still going to get a preserved HST set with Paxman Valenta engines refitted?

Just preserve an EMT set, we have the updated Velanta engines which are pretty much as loud as the ones I remember from my childhood in the late 80s early 90s sat on Beeston's narrow platforms as one either screamed through or even louder were the ones that had stopped at Beeston and then crawled out the station on full bore throttle screaming!

Updated "Velanta"? Don't think so: the VP185 was a completely new design. They might be from the same company (Paxman as was), but they are very, very different.

The last two days I have seen it from the top deck of a bus as it passed Bristol TM at around 16:30 - 16:45, each time at the south end of the train.

My boy and I will be in London from West Yorkshire tomorrow and wonder whether anyone could let me know if the IC125 liveried car will be at Paddington tomorrow and when.

Thanks

As said many times on this forum and indeed this very thread diagrams aren't finalised until the morning of the day in question so if you come back here tommorow more will be known

Apparently, there is another one being released tomorrow. I don't know any other details though!

It is 43027, and appears to be some Queen Elizabeth 90 special livery.

Running the following:
1C70 0818 Plymouth to Penzance
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C49473/2016/06/11/advanced

1A85 1100 Penzance to London Paddington
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C46633/2016/06/11/advanced

1C89 1706 London Paddington to Plymouth
http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C44370/2016/06/11/advanced

The InterCity 125 liveried power car is currently at Penzance having worked down the previous night, and if it is running anything at all, will end up in London at some point.

Brilliant, thanks. Looks like Paddington at 1220. Is the power car at the buffer end or the country end of the set? Does anyone know roughly how long she'll stay at Paddington?

It is on the Penzance / country end, it is booked to work 1300 Paddington - Bristol Temple Meads at the moment but this may change if necessary.
