The Guardian has released a rather good series of short films - of acclaimed actors performing Shakespearian speeches. It involves actors such as Roger Allam, Adrian Lester, Damien Lewis, Daniel Mays, Samuel West, David Morrissey and - *shudders* - Joanne Lumley.

They're all here.

Which ones do people particularly like - and which are you guys not so hot on?

interesting - thanks for sharing. Which is your favorite?

I personally think that Lester, Allam, and Morrissey are particularly good - but I also liked Camille O'Sullivan as Constance, Paterson Joseph as Shylock and Ayesha Dharker as Titania.

Which do you prefer?

McBeth, Hamlet or Richard III

Yeah, Danny Mays (Line of Duty!) was great too.

Anyone else? Which ones did you prefer?

(As well as these views, I thought that:

a) Joanna Lumley was just generally dire
b) Zawe Ashton mumbled all her lines
c) Eileen Atkins was pretty good (I like the setting)

...)

Daniel Mays - can't stand him so my judgement is clouded
David Threlfal - solid but overall disappointing
Zawe Ashton - misinterpreted
Sacha Dawan - like an insurance advert
Riz Ahmed - outstanding
Damian Lewis - not as bad as I thought it would be
Paterson Joseph - too understated, needs more vitriol
Laura Carmichael - tad boring, seems to be still in Downton mode
Sam West - very good
Camille O'Sullivan - stunning
Joanna Lumley - Absolutely unfabulous
Adrian Lester - rather good
Joanna Vanderham - surprisingly good
Roger Allum - excellent
Eileen Atkins - yes, pretty good
David Morrisey - see David Threlfal but a bit less disappointing
Ayesha Dharker - too starey for me

For me, Riz Ahmed was the best overall. Second place to Camille O'Sullivan. Joint third Roger Allum/Sam West/Adrian Lester. With an honourable mention for Joanna Vanderham.

It would be interesting to see some of these in the complete role.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
