A typical commuter-belt part of north-west England
Grantown on Spey West

That station lies on the connection line that leads to the line of the Strathspey Railway, whereas we are still on the line of the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway.

EDIT : Sorry, I have confused the WEST and EAST stations.

IGNORE WHAT I ORIGINALLY SAID......I WILL MAKE A FURTHER POSTING

The diagrams I'm looking at are convinced West is on the I&P JR so I'm lost

Noting that I have had nothing to do with the design and line planning of this "bonus" journey, according to the stated preamble, we continue down the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway towards the Perth and Dunkeld Railway.

However, I must be getting out of touch with matters as it was Grantown on Spey EAST that led to the Strathspey railway, so Grantown on Spey WEST is indeed a valid posting on the line we travel

is actually correct, I'm afraid that Paul is mistaken here. The Strathspey Railway is a heritage railway - and has not yet reached Grantown, which was always on the I&PJR. As for the GNoSR station on the line to Craigellachie, that was Grantown East.

I have sent Paul a PM which, hopefully, should clarify the matter.

We appear to have reached an impasse. Perhaps dzug2 could strike through his posting of Kincraig? It is invalid from Grantown West (as he posted that station) and, although there may be a station between them, he has still posted Kincraig before that stop (Aviemore Speyside) could be posted? Thank you.

Thanks. Having looked at previous postings, it seems that Aviemore (Speyside) is valid. Therefore, I recommend that we move on from dzug2's original posting of Grantown-on-Spey West.

Normally, when accessing the Scottish Midland Junction Railway from the Inverness and Perth Junction Railway, we would normally head down to Perth, via Stanley station towards Perth

Why can't we just use Stanley? They both call there.

Alyth Junction
